    Default Shoe advice

    Hello,

So I'm going to be transitioning to a dancer here soon. I have a question about heels..

I'm looking for a shoe that gives height but less of an arch. I noticed some heels have a low platform at the front and some have a chunky platform at the front. Can someone please explain the differences?

Is there any certain type of heel that is easier to walk in?

Also, would management care if I wore a chunky heel and chunky platform as a newbie? Do they generally pay attention? I was looking at getting some platform boots that are about 4 inches but have less of an arch.

Another question, is there anything you ladies use to prevent slips? I tried on a dancers shoes and it was sort of scary, lol.

This is a proper stripper shoeSS 1.jpg

I suppose you could wear something like this to start:

But, to be honest the top shoe is actually much more comfortable and made for dancers.

Managers generally do not care about what is on your feet, though many clubs have rules against flip flops and sneakers and things like that.

You can put non slip pads under the shoe, that you can buy on Amazon or any dancer store.

There are likely other older threads about shoes that you can search up and hopefully find some more info.

The higher a platform is, the easier the angle is on the arch of your foot and it actually almost nullifies the height of a heel. So if you're in 6" with a 2" platform it only feels like you're in a 4". You also want a show where the sole is connected to the heel for more structure and less likely to snap. Most stripper shoes also have a metal rod in the heels because we clack our shoes so much on stage. Pleaser is a great brand to get shoes specifically for stripper dancing.

All good advice- definitely get dancer shoes. I wear 5 inch heels that my boss calls hideous and makes fun of but I am tall and built like a rail. 8 inchers make me look like a giraffe on stilts. 6 or 7 inch is typically a good place to start as far as stripper shoes go. I am not at all graceful but do just fine walking in those. A basic clear Pleaser pair is cheap - in the 40-50 dollar range. You also have choices like an ankle strap, double strap, or just the single toe strap. Pleaser even now makes ankle straps that are detachable and can go on any shoe. Great for someone like me who consistently takes shoes off in dances but doesn't want to deal with the hassle of unbuckling them. Strap on for stage, no strap to walk the floor.

As for the slip- I always have non slip shoe pads for girls if they want them. I personally don't like them and go scratch my shoes up on the pavement. The kind I wear has no grip at all on the bottom- doing this makes them not so slippy. I find shoe pads too grippy for my ungraceful ass and I don't like the way they look. Just a personal preference, though- you need to see what works best for you.

For making shoes nonstick, rub coarse sandpaper on the bottoms, or a coarse nail file
