    Default Legal Counsel

Hope this is the right thread to post this but here goes....any advice from someone knowledgeable in this would be much appreciated....

I'm looking for an attorney to help me address a certain issue I've encountered working at my last place; however, it's proving to be difficult. Maybe I'm being overly paranoid but part of the issue may be, she's a stripper, like, why would I even touch this case? I don't even know what category of attorney to seek out. Naturally, I'd seek out someone who is well-versed in entertainment law because as a dancer, I see what I do as work in entertainment, as a highly-paid acting gig.. Another option is employment or contract law. But I'm having issue finding someone to help me. This search has dragged on for a few months now, with my contacting a few ppl with no response or contacting a few with responses but I'm still trying to decide. I now have two attorneys, possibly three, who have expressed interest. I just don't know how to pick one and/or how to continue my search in a way that is fruitful.

One guy that came recommended to me is based in LA. He is not licensed to practice in NY. Would that be an issue? He wants to discuss entering a representation agreement, and I'm afraid this will involve money up-front, with not much as an end-result. He's already helped me with some advise about establishing an llc, which I went out and done myself using a registered agent, so I kind of feel indebted to him for that, as to use him for other matters pertaining to my work in clubs or other lines of entertainment. If we were to enter an agreement, would it even be viable if my issue is in NY?

Does anyone have any personal recommendations that I should consider as far as attorneys go?

It's been so long since the incident, I'm considering, just dropping it and moving on with my life. Also, the evidence might be a bit scant on the whole things, especially considering how much time has now elapsed. At the same time, I know that what had happened was wrong and I want accountability, especially so that it does not continue to happen to others.
