So I want to try oil pulling, but since coconut oil is essentially a GREAT butter substitute (I mean shit, I can never tell the difference!!!) I'm afraid of getting butter breath. Any comments, tips, advice, experiences, knowledge, sources, etc lol?

....Coconut oil works well for oil pulling since it's cheap and good for your body anyways. I've never heard of "butter breath"...?
Anyhow do update.

More like oil pulling for better breath. I op once to twice a week, no more bad breath or even morning breath. Plus, you should brush your teeth after for that minty freshness. Sometimes I combine coconut oil and baking soda for natural toothpaste and teeth whitening!

Oil pulling is the best thing you can do for your oral health/hygiene other than regular brushing and flossing. I always brush my teeth after oil pulling, but I suppose you could do it in any order. Either way I don't think it would have much of an effect on your breath.
I've never experienced "butter breath" after oil pulling. I'm not sure.

Oil pulling did nothing for me. I did it for about 10 mins a day for 60 days. Maybe that's not long enough but I had a difficult time doing it without gagging. I wonder...does it ever actually do anything? Lol

Honestly switching from being a mouth breather to a nose breather made a big difference in my breath. Before I trained myself to nose breathe while sleeping I would have the worst morning breath too, like it would gross ME out. Now I hardly even have any.

Lol butter breath? Coconut oil smells nothing like butter.
Bad breathe is usually a result of dry mouth, and dry mouth also leads to cavities and tooth rotting a LOT more than people realize. Oil pulling basically moisturizes your mouth and dislodges debris from between your teeth and helps remove stains. Always brush teeth after.
The mistake most ppl make is using alcohol based mouth wash, super bad.
I’ve found xylitol to be effective in getting rid of dry mouth and cleaning teeth (also great sugar substitute, your teeth will be so much better off when you make the switch). It does a great job of killing bad bacteria and stimulating saliva.
I use xylitol gel at night or these little pills that sit along your gums and release xylitol all night. Made a huge difference in my oral health

When she wrote butter breath, I kinda figured it was like butter face, you know, she's hot, but her face, only it would be, she's hot, but her breath.
I tried oil pulling but it didn't do much for me. I'm already kind of OCD about my teeth and oral health, though. My dentist loves me.

I noticed oil pulling is helping me with sinus congestion, which is really nice.

I have had interesting results with op. I usually do it for about 15-20 mins every other day. Tartar build up for me was noticeably less, and sorry if TMI, one time a piece of tartar from between my teeth just fell out after op/brush/floss routine. I get tartar build up behind my lower front teeth and it has been noticeably less and eventually just flakes off! No scraping or anything. My dental health is very important to me but without dental insurance I have had to become my own dentist for a few years lol.

I learned from going without dental insurance that excellent oral hygiene & brushing twice daily prevents a lot of problems that lead to expensive dental work.
Dentists have repeatedly complimented me on my teeth, they can always tell I had massive orthodontic fixes and a lot of repairs so they are happy I took care of all that work.

I've never heard of butter breath, butifyoure talking about the disgusting film that dairy products leave in your mouth, coconut oil won't do that since it comes from a plant... Lol
