Crossfingers I'm black but "talk white." What city is for me??

Hi everyone! Can anyone help me decide what city to move to and start stripping in???

I'm an aspiring stripper who is a 5'4, 135 lb light skinned black girl. People say I look like Zendaya (which is a crazy and unbelievable honor ) if that gives a better description. Can dance very well, twerk some, very flexible, no pole skills currently but am working on it, am well-spoken and bubbly, also a political science major. I will be graduating from a university in the Midwest this spring. My plan is to move to a city that allows me to strip/make decent money and keep a corporate job in my field too. I'm considering Denver, ATL, Houston, Dallas, DC, Portland and Seattle, but will go anywhere!

I've never stripped but have researched a lot and don't know what cities I should look into. Willing to relocate to wherever in the US. I usually attract white men and tend to date them both in vanilla and sugar baby/daddy relationships, so I'm wondering which clubs/cities would allow me to capitalize on this. I'm not opposed to urban clubs, but I feel I would make the most in predominantly-white clubs. I get the "you sound like a white girl" and "I forget that you're black" thing a lot until I start twerking at the bars as if my culture and skin color are masked away or something?? So annoying that its 2018 and I can't be appreciated for my blackness and my intellect at the same time. Anywayyyy, I feel like this could make it hard for me to adapt in urban clubs, but again I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated!!! Really just want some insight on my potential hustle and what cities I could thrive in. Thank you in advance, ladies.

Yes, I too find it incredibly annoying that people equate sounding educated with being white, when in actuality AA women are getting the most advanced degrees in the US right now.

Anyway, it seems to me like you would do better in upscale type of environment. The cities you are thinking of are all over the place. Why don't you do a road trip and try a few cities?

Thanks! That’s my top choice because I have friends who also want to move to that city. Have you been to/danced in Denver? I heard the clubs aren’t too diverse so I would hate to not find a club for me after already moving there.

I'm going to be blunt. Denver is the least racist city you listed in the OP. & Unfortunately a lot of strip clubs have an unspoken racial quota system.

I'd road trip & check out a few places. However speaking from having been to Denver, Colorado several times & danced there, I feel you would be happiest there with a high standard of living as opposed to other cities.

Thank you!! I totally agree. I believe we’re moving past the sterotype but still have so far to go.

I’d love to road trip but I’d be moving right after college and would pretty much have to pick a place and stick to it for a while. Hopefully I can find out some info on the upscale clubs in these cities before I decide.

Yeah, that’s what I was gathering from others. Lucky it’s my first choice! I’m hoping to use the “token black girl” thing that people cling to my being and hope for the best. I got into my sorority on an unspoken quota system so I might as well give it a shot! Lol. My only worry is that while they may be the least racist city, it also seems that there aren’t many dancers who are black there either.

I’ll keep looking to find some info on which clubs, but I don’t see much talk about Denver so far. Just been lurking, this is my first post.

Oh most definitely! It’ll never change. Unfortunately, they seem to be in all aspects of my life. I believe I got my internship in my field for being able to speak articulately as well as add to their race workforce needs. It’s sad.

I’m hoping you’re right! I know some clubs in various cities hire only very few black women, even though there’s plenty of white men who want one! Hopefully that changes.

I have never danced in Denver, but I've heard they are really picky about weight and the top clubs like really skinny girls. They might tell you to lose weight at 5'4", 135 lbs. even though that is not overweight. I am about the same height as you and got told to lose weight at a few places when I weighed 130-135 lbs. I have never danced in any of the cities that you mention-your best bet is to take a strip trip and try them out and see what city you like best. I'm not sure how strict any of the cities you mention are about hiring black women. Good luck!

I heard that, too. I’m hoping to lose at least 5-10 lb before I graduate just as a personal choice but I did hear about Denver wanting overly skinny girls.
    Thanks for the help!

I heard that too! But I plan on moving there, if I choose that city if that helps? Wouldn’t I just need proof of residency?

DON'T bother with Seattle!! There are like 4 clubs, all require a license, and house fees are ridiculously expensive. There is no alcohol allowed so the club makes money off of YOU. It blows. It's why I moved to Portland. Portland has lots of options but not a ton of diversity. Honestly I don't know what it would be like for you. Definitely better than Seattle though

Damn, that sucks because I love that city otherwise! I heard Portland wasn't very diverse and also heard that the abundance of strippers/strip clubs there are makes it hard to make good, good money.

Yes it's true about Portland and the $$. I think if you are already a seasoned hustler it's possible but still low compared to other cities

Try DC! Plus you'll have a political science degree!
