Travel Travel dancing tips! (share yours here!)

First, obviously figure out which city you want to travel to and look up the clubs in the area. Take reviews with a grain of salt because a lot of times they're written by butthurt customers or dancers and don't actually reflect what kind of club it is. Call the club and ask: 1. what forms of ID do I need to bring? 2. what do I have to wear? (is the club topless/nude/pasties/g-strings, etc) 3. when are auditions held/when is the hiring manager available? You want to audition as SOON as you get there so you can get yourself on the schedule and not worry about being stuck in a random city with nowhere to work.

Pay for your accommodations ahead of time. You don't want to be driving around at 3am trying to find a hotel. I personally like airbnb because there are so many reputable hosts, you'll save money, then you don't have to worry about staying in a hotel room alone.

Make sure at least one person from home knows where you are, the address and room you're staying at, and what club you're working at.

Get a small suitcase to put your dancer outfits and shoes in and get a lock for it. Chances are you won't be able to get a locker right away at a new club so come prepared.

Start small if you're new to traveling ESPECIALLY if you're traveling alone or you're not used to going on big trips. Look up places that are 3-5 hours away from where you live and stay for a few nights there.

Keep a list of the clubs that you like and get the manager's contact info for future visits.

Be extra careful; don't drink too much, don't give out your personal information, don't let guys know you're traveling alone.

if you want to travel with other girls try to limit your group. the more people you go with the more of a pain in the ass it can be. coordinate schedules and make sure you know whose car you're taking, who is driving, what nights you all want to work, and what day you are leaving on.

    * Tip for American girls- avoid Motel 6 chain motels. The staff is trained to spy on guest activity AND they illegally turn over data from guests to LE. Meaning your cheap hotel room for the night can come with a headache regarding an active warrant..... or the joint you smoked in the parking lot after work.

    * Always have a designated driver if you are carpooling to and from the club. A LOT of cities/counties stake out strip clubs because it's like shooting fish in a barrel when it comes to DUI tickets and other assorted citations.

Low end motels aim to avoid "nuisance activity" at their locations. So workers get bonuses to spy on guests and snitch.

Also- if you drive from club to club you can use the following businesses for pit stops (shower/bathroom/food/overnight parking) - Flying J /Pilot / TravelAmerica truck stops. Overnight parking is permitted in most Wal Marts.

Yelp . com reviews are super helpful for planning trips. People don't hold back and do remember to add locals-specific info, which is sometimes more helpful than info about haggling on prices.

Have enough money to get yourself home in case you hate the club or there is no money there.

Sometimes clubs have deals with hotels for traveling dancers-ask over the phone. If you're dancing for an entire week or more, try to find a hotel with weekly rates.

Common sense, but don't tell custies exactly where you're from, what hotel you're staying at, what kind of car you drive, etc. I've blurted out really dumb shit when I've had too many drinks and some customers can be stalkerish.

Play up the "new girl" schtick when you're new to a particular club, even if you've been dancing for years. Customers love new girls, especially if it's a small club with the same girls week after week. Get a free texting number or email address that you can give to good spenders to let them know when you'll be back if you plan on coming back and working.

As was mentioned before, call beforehand and find out the basics of the club, i.e. topless vs. nude, if you have to wear pasties, minimum days/hours required, if you have to wear gowns, a certain height of heel, style of thong, etc. It would suck to get there and not have the proper clothing.

if you're going to a new club take the time to think of songs you want to dance to. the last club I went to I printed out a list with 30 songs and then paper clipped a $20 to it and handed it to the dj. he laughed at how professional it was lol but it worked! can't count how many times I've told a dj to play classic rock and I get stuck dancing to hair metal.

don't try to be a kiss ass to the other girls. going to a new club can be really uncomfortable because you don't know anyone but avoid the urge to be buddy-buddy with all the dancers. not having any distractions will help your hustle. I also recommend getting ready at home and being discrete about where you place your things in the dressing room so nobody messes with your stuff. keep anything you need to touch up your makeup or hair in your purse and try to go in your dancer bag as little as possible.

pick up a random weeknight shift if you can. the manager will be appreciative that you're willing to work a slower shift as weekend schedules tend to be packed and you'll still bank on that new girl money since there will be plenty of regulars who only get dances from new girls.

once you've gotten accustomed to travelling offer to bring one of your girls with you on your next trip. travelling can be daunting for some people so spread the love and give someone else an opportunity to experience travel dancing!

Ohhh before I forget...$$$$ saving tip- don't pay for WiFI at hotels. McDonald's & many cafes/restaurants offer totally free WiFI or give the code out with a food purchase.

Truck stop cafes are a good place to network/ask specific questions about a city/area. Also a good place to wait for rides or for a tow truck if you have auto trouble. (For single women traveling alone, it's not a good idea to wait in your car by the road, especially at night.)

If you have to park in the same lot as the customers, maybe dont say what state you are from in case that is the only license plate with that state in the lot, then you might as well have said your exact make and model of car.

This might be overally paranoid but I might even say Im visiting friends instead of just traveling to imply that I am not leaving the club to go sleep at some motel alone because you never know.

I always have a bag lock. A combo or key lock fits just fine in the zipper of most backpacks and duffel bags. Im wary about everything getting stolen, even my regular shoes.

There are these door stop things you can get that you can put under the door of your hotel room.

Hostels arent too bad if you cant afford a motel the first night. Most hostel people leave by 9 am to site see so you can sleep in alone. Bring ear plugs and an eye mask though. Or maybe some melatonin.

If driving, fully stock the car with anything you might need. One of those emergency battery things look really helpful rather than waiting for another car to come along for a jump start. Self defense items as well.

You dont know what the club you end up in has so bring everything you could possibly need so you arent asking anyone for anything. There might not be a house mom for example.

Also, bring a variety of outfits because even if they say no dress code they still might have a clear preference for lingerie for example or the hiring manager says you have to hide a tattoo or your stomach so now you need something high waist or a dress, etc. I try to bring: my go to pieces, those matching two piece sets, a dress, lingerie, high waist, booty shorts...thats all I can think of right now. Oh a garter or two, some clubs require that.

Research back up clubs unless you got pre-hired. You may be awesome but maybe the manager isnt in the mood that day and you have to come back the next day but you need to work ASAP. Then you arent sitting in your car trying to quickly pick between a few clubs you know nothing about.

Better to not come on the weekend.

If driving have gas in the car when leaving the club so you dont have to stop in the middle of the night, and be wary of surroundings. Ive just up and left gas stations I pulled in to at random exits in Louisiana and Texas because something just seemed off. Not worth the risk.

Maybe some disagree with this: I try to be more conservative in looks when traveling because it is a situation where you have to get hired and get hired at that moment, like not get told to come back, so I'll opt for black hair over purple/teal for example since I dont know how they feel about it.

Try to log all your expenses and earnings so you can see if this even makes sense. Save receipts separately from at home receipts.

Figure out a plan for food that doesn't involve stopping for snacks and eating out a lot.

seriously. i stayed at a Super 8 not too long ago, which had surprisingly nice rooms for the price, and wasn't in a particularly bad area. but they were all up in my business, told me i couldn't smoke a cigarette outside near the lobby, and mentioned that they have an issue with prostitution while looking at me suspiciously. and i'm not even an escort.. nor do i do drugs or smoke weed or anything.. i was just working at a club nearby. like what the fuck

Hotels (not motels) will usually offer free WiFi if you join their free rewards programs. Also keep in mind that if you are going to be frequently using hotels it’s good to pick a chain that will be near the clubs you plan to visit (Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt etc.) they all have reward programs and inexpensive tier properties. Use the reward program EVERY time and it will pay off with free nights, upgrades, amenities etc.
