I'll start off with saying that I've pretty much exclusively done dances on my own, and a few days ago was the first time I tried teaming up with another dancer for a double dance. I felt that I really didn't know what to do. Obviously, it was something new to me, but I was very open to trying it as I know other dancers who have made good money taking that approach. It actually went really well as we did quite a few dances, but I felt that she was the one really carrying it, given I had very little experience.
Does anyone else have experience with this and what's the best approach to take and be successful when pairing up with another dancer? As I said, we actually did really well, so overall it was a positive experience, but I felt a bit awkward at times and unsure of what the expectation is.
I typically tried to focus on the customer that I was dancing for and make eye contact with my fellow dancer and the other customer too. The fellow dancer made some contact with me as I was dancing for one of the guys, and did a bit of a dance together, which they both ended up enjoying. However, I didn't really make any contact with her and she was really the one initiating things.
I'd love to hear from some of your experiences of what worked well. Is it a good idea to interact with the other dancer or mainly focus on the customer? Does it seem awkward that I did not initiate any contact with the other dancer and it was mostly her leading?
Have you typically done better with a dancer who looks similar to you or the opposite? I think it might have worked well because we were totally different - me being petite and Asian, and her blonde with really big boobs.
Thanks for any comments!
