Default Nervous about auditioning. Vegas clubs.

Hey everyone, I finally got enough strength to audition tomorrow. I’m nervous and I don’t know how I’ll take repetitive rejection. I’ve decided to try a few places crazy horse and hustlers. Im concerned about my body shape and being boxed into an urban club because I’m a WOC. I’m curvy and am inverted triangle shaped with a somewhat athletic build. I think my body type would be fine if I wasn’t fairly tall 5’9. Because my height and proportions I come off a little intimidating and I’m worried it’ll effect my chances of getting into an upscale location. Which clubs do you think I have a better chance of getting into? Im open to all comments and criticisms.

I’m just going to update. Headed to ch3 and they said they were overbooked because they over hired for convention season, he told me to try again in the middle of April (not sure if that’s true, possibly he didn’t just say no, I guess). He told me I should try hustlers, and confirmed that the hiring process at sapphire and spearmint rhino wouldn’t work in my best interest. One down and about five more to go, I’m still pretty optimistic.

Good luck with Hustler. I always did well there and they have a pretty wide variety of girls (by Vegas standards anyway). Your audition will be similar to CH3, part of a song on one of the side stages.

Oh girl let me tell you, I don't mean to discourage anybody but this is how it went for me.. I went to hustlers first last night at around 11:00, three other girls were already there to audition, the manager was seemingly annoyed and we all got rejected.. There seems to be mostly cubans at this club too. So I thought no problem.. I'll go to the Rhino, John hired me for the 9 pm shift a couple of years, worst that can happen if competition is tuff, they'll give me the 2 am shift, that's still good. Well, this was another manager, two piece outfit walk back and forth, get dressed we'll talk.. When I come back he's gone, and the door guy tells me there's nothinothing for me, no shift whatsoever. I really haven't changed that much, I might be even thinner this time then when I got the 9 pm. I think the amount of girls auditioning right now is a level I've never seen, plus it's the end of the month, there's already a lot of girls working and a lot of girls auditioning, if I was you I'd wait a good five days or so, and also go audition the earliest you can, I made the mistake of going late when the managers are tired of seeing girls all day, if they're already annoyed, the odds are not good. Best of luck to you though, I hope my experience can give insight to any one of you

That is a good point Angelica made-the mood the manager is in matters a lot! I was told to lose weight at one club and went back a couple months later and got hired, same manager lol. I didn't lose any weight either. There was no way I could lose any weight without starving myself-it was the skinniest I could be and still be healthy-so I figured fuck it, I'll try again. Worst they can do is say no again, and it was the same manager and he hired me even though I looked exactly the same. He must have just been in a bad mood the first time I inquired about a job.

So I’m entirely sure they were lying to you. I auditioned at CH on Monday and received any shift. There have been other girls auditioning since I’ve started working there, with some actually getting hired. I don’t know the shift they got, but I definitely saw contracts getting signed. I’d be hesitant about Spearmint, depending on your race. I auditioned and couldn’t even get a referral. The guy at the front desk told me the manager said come back in the day. I want to try Sapphire, but maybe my next visit back here. I still haven’t gotten my business license and am allowed to work. I’m sure if I brought it up that would change though.

Race is African American and Hispanic, that’s why I’m not even going to try there. I knew something was off when I went to crazy horse because he ask me for my Id, and two other forms of id. Then he left, came back and asked me what I was applying for. When I said dancer he went into the whole “we’re too over staffed, get a sheriffs card and come back in three weeks and audition”, he literally gave me a motivational speech about not giving up ,how it’s hard in Vegas right now. Im pissed if he lied to me, he was being super nice about, just tell me no. I hate false hope.

According to the WOC on this site, they hire a limited, very limited amount of black women; The ones they do hire are model slim. To be honest I knew I would have a hard time finding work because I’m curvy. I had my heart set on ch3, I might take the plunge and try a mid tier club, lose more weight and try again next month. I just lost 10 pounds in the last month with becoming vegan. I’m thinking if I can drop another 15 my chances will be better.

seriously, the managers moods can make a world of difference. if you don't get hired the first time just go back again. they most likely will not remember you because they see so many new girls every damn night. i lived there for years and had to re-audition several times at sapphires/rhino because if i ever took off more than a few weeks they'd have no idea who i was anymore since i'm quiet and fly under the radar

i'd say as a WOC that you have a better shot at ch3 or hustler. but if you have 15lbs to lose that is probably going to be an issue no matter what your body or skin type is, or what kind of mood the manager is in. i felt big and insecure in vegas at 5'2 115lbs and i had the easiest time making money when i was 100lbs. unless you have fake boobs, it's pretty much a prerequisite that you be very thin in order to get hired at the big clubs.

I know this is a Vegas thread, but this happens everywhere! And the go-to response will always be, "lose weight" whether that is true or not. It is so annoying. I would rather someone just say, "not hiring right now" or "we have had too many auditions" if the manager is in a bad mood. I am so SICK of the "lose weight" response unless it is really true. They are so fickle and I hear Vegas is the worst for being fickle. I hope to travel there one day, but first I need to up my game in Dallas.

10 lbs is awesome progress! Your attitude is still positive even though you're hitting speed bumps..keep that going and the next 15 will be gone and you'll find yourself at ch3 or the club you want in no time !

I got hired at Sapphire's the 2nd week of March and worked 5 shifts in two and a half weeks and I went in last Friday all ready to work early and my sheriff's card was rang up as "inactive" and they "didn't know what to tell me" with no other answer or advice. Took it kind of personally, but it seems it's just a high turnover? I didn't do anything offensive and I'm local as of recently. Told them I could pick up some extra shifts and the answer was still no. My ego is a bit bruised since I've never been turned down anywhere before. Not sure when/if I should try back there? I really did like it there.

^I’ve heard about the “inactive” thing before. I’d probably go back there soon. My first audition there I got turned down, went back the next night (in the same outfit) and got hired...by the same manager from the previous night.

As far as CH3 hiring, don’t be a bitch around the house mom. The night I got hired there several of us were getting ready to audition and this one girl was being a huge bitch. When she was on stage the mom went and whispered something in the managers ear...everyone got hired but her and she was easily the most attractive.

Update#3. So it’s been almost two months and still no luck. I had the flu for half of April and have spent the rest of my time busy with my day job and traveling to CA to visit a sick parent. Since then I’ve been told to come back later by two different clubs. So I’m officially three for three. After the second time I was feeling discouraged and took a few weeks to get myself together. (My audition was an embarrassment). This third time they told me if I wanted to work I’d have to work swing. Told me to come back Friday at 7am. I have to take it day by day, I’m still really positive. Thanks to everyone for responding.

^^^That's cool; are you going to go back and work the swing shift? Which club, if you don't mind my asking? Just worked last week in Vegas for the first time, and I'm going back in August to pick up my permanent sheriff's card so I'm a leech for info.

man, i wish you the best of luck with your vegas club search, my dear! tbh, im 5'11, skin complexion like kelly rowland's, and i got a tiny waist, 34b cup, and bubble butt body type. im having the same difficulty of getting my foot in the door at a club here in phoenix too. they are super anti black with their hiring and they usually shoo me away when they see me :/ it don't even be 30 seconds, bro and im back in a uber on my way home smh. anyways, it is slow season here in az and im just gonna go out of state for a bit to see if i can work there. yeah? i heard it is also slow in vegas right now, because of the heat wave of summer. but word, keep us posted! <3

Update #4. Been a long time. So I ended up getting hired at cheetahs recently. I took a long break from my search so I could lose weight and work a second vanilla job. So I lost 25 pounds in total which took me about 5 months to lose and maintain. I hit a two month plateau. Sadly all the rejection made me a little self conscious. I’m not ready to jump into a big club just yet. I’m going to give it about two weeks and get out there. It seemed a little easier this time. I guess the clubs aren’t over saturated like they are at the beginning of the year.

did you try out? i auditioned at several places in vegas recently, crazy horse 3- was a walk around the pole & take your top off in front of the house mom & manager sitch, rhino- walk up and down a hallway (also they dont allow any facial piercings! including nose studs) , hustlers- dance for 3 songs and take your top off- i couldve sworn i slayed the audition as guys came up and tipped me and my friend but i got rejected , and centerfolds- walk around the pole & take your top off but this club is very tiny and didnt seem busy at all.
