I'm a little more than halfway through (thanks for the late night entertainment lol). It's a horrible situation and it goes to show why you should never leave the club with a customer under any circumstances. You don't really know these people, and between him appearing "harmless", being infatuated with her, and already displaying signs of aggression before she was alone with him in a hotel room, it was a lethal combo. We all have lapses in judgment but it's tragic that this one costed her life.
Can't blame her family for being upset that all the headlines mentioned she was a stripper but the media loves to use sensational headlines and what will facilitate sales better than a story about a beautiful stripper who was brutally murdered? It's true if she was a waitress, a tutor, a dental hygienist or worked any other "acceptable" job it wouldn't be an issue. It's dehumanizing to remember someone in their death as a "stripper" when she was a daughter, a student, a friend, a human, a 21-yr-old girl with her whole life ahead of her.
Reminds me of a Las Vegas judge who died a few years ago of natural causes and she was only in her 50s. Despite being a successful lawyer for many years and eventually being elected as a judge, in her death she was remembered as a stripper-turned-judge because she danced for one year during law school. Once you involve yourself with the adult industry it seems no matter what else you go on to achieve in life you will be remembered as that stripper-turned-judge or stripper-turned-neurosurgeon. Even the documentary isn't doing her justice as a human being by having her picture out on the floor and surrounded by crumpled dollar bills.
RIP Rachel. Her POS murderer is getting out of jail in 2033.

Holy hell, this is in my neck of the woods. Before my time but I'll ask some of the vets at work.

this is fucked up. weird i was just looking into the "jeff davis 8" this week bc i had never heard of it. it's insane how often girls in the sex industry go missing or get found murdered and it's just... not made into a big serious deal. like the girl's cousin was saying.. the headlines make it into a joke and people put "lol" on a post like this. it's just "stripper gets thrown off bridge". so fucked.
What's with the "Lol". Really? I fail to see the humor in this. I'm sure there's a lot that goes on that doesn't get reported because it's "just some stripper", as if we're not anything else in life. Nevermind the fact that we might be someone's mom, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, girlfriend, wife, etc. It's like once someone gets wind of anything happening to someone that's a stripper or working in a field that's adult industry related, people brush it off as if it's not big deal. I hate reading comments from single-minded vanilla folk after such stories with headlines like that. I know after the suicide death of a porn star I seen a flood of negative comments about,"One less scum on this earth" and other harsh things. Showing this industry in a negative light by putting such headlines does nothing but further enhance the commonly held belief among the general public, associating strippers and strip clubs with prostitution, drugs, and other shady stuff such as this.

Because everyone who is or has been involved in porn/the adult industry (I'm pretty sure even running a sex shop would freak most vanilla people out) just does it to be a scum. No assholes, people do it to feed their kids, pay bills, and go back to school. Or, we suffer from depression, health problems, or other things that make this industry more appealing than a regular one. Jesus.

Just reading the comments. I’ll watch the video tonight. I was going through a shame spirial- now I realize that the patriarchy and religion is why strippers/ adult entertainers.get shamed. I really have had to work on my rage from vanilla people shaming me. Now, I try to remember it’s their social conditioning. It’s not okay, but it makes it more manageable to deal with them.
Every human has innate worth and shame on those people who don’t treat us (dead or alive) with basic human dignity and respect. Judging other people is an American pastime. We are fun to hate on. We make great scapegoats for social ills and people’s personal problems.
I think all murders are described as, “he was such a nice guy” by shocked neighbors.
I’m not judging or blaming, but I don’t do any OTC anything! I need to compartmentalize my work life or I’d go crazy.

And Ted Bundy was such a handsome guy, but that doesn't change what he did to all those women and animals. I feel you, Amy. Don't let anyone convince you that you are less than human. I mean really, the shock and disgust should be about the man who did this shit, not that the woman he killed was a stripper.
