    Default Hustling sober. Advice?

I’ve quit drinking because I feel I have a problem with it, and for the first time in the few years I’ve been dancing, I’m working completely sober. And I feel like it hasn’t been working out well. I’m more aggressive when I was drunk and it helped me get out of my own head a bit. I know some of you have mentioned that you don’t drink at work. How do you do it?? Plus I work in a club without a lot of foot traffic and the girls are very aggressive and you have to be really on your game.

What worked for me was putting a lot of energy into stages & then carrying over the "good energy" when I would approach customers.

Also being hyper focused on conversations. A certain kind of customer gets off on having a hot woman hanging on to his every word and thought.

i don't know if this can reapplied to you, but when i wanted to stop drinking I changed to a different club, where i don't have those 'drunk memories only' or where I don't get triggers to drink. i work at a few different ones and there's certain ones that make it much easier to stay sober for me.

also dayshift for a while helps. literally a week was enough for me to get in the sober mindset. it gets easier after a while, it's just that initial phase that's hard to manage sober.

I can make good money sober, you will learn to enjoy the feeling of being in control and it won't feel so awkward after a while.

focus on being naturally fun, confident, and uninhibited. what puts you in a silly and playful mood? I do a tiny bit of caffeine and try to pump myself up with music or affirmations before I get to the club and then as soon as I get changed I go onto the floor and try to immediately start talking to someone. even if it's a bar regular who doesn't spend money, I'll go up to him and be like "haaaaayyyyy!" basically act like you're feeling good as hell and you're ready to party.

congratulations on making such a mature decision to stop drinking at work. good luck!

I couldn't make the switch from drinking to absolutely no drinking. It didn't work. It was scary, awkward, unnerving, all the emotions!! It was shocking to go from a completely comfortable drunk state of mind, to a weird sober one. Look, some girls have success going cold turkey at work. I didn't. There's no one path to success in my opinion.

Instead I found great results in gradually reducing my intake. If I had 5 shots a shift on average, I'd have 4.5 a shift for a week. Then after another week I'd go to 4. Then 3.5, 3, 2.5, 2.... etc over time.

I started to force myself to rely on myself more and the alcohol less. I'd set short term, mid term and long term goals. Ultimately you have to remember you're stopping for a reason. Or else this wont work. You need the self discipline. But lucky for you, you'll find you make more money sober. So it will be easy to stick to. (disclaimer: this will NOT work if you are an alcoholic, drinking every single day at work, at home, and everywhere in between. Seek counseling if this is you! You can get your life back!)

Also, too many girls in this industry freak out over a slow night. So they start drinking. Or girls have a bad day at work. So they start drinking. Or they have a bad week, so they start drinking.

This is silly. In the real world business owners have bad days, bad months and bad YEARS! It happens. In every business. Its not just you! It's all businesses!! Don't be so hard on yourself.

I wish you the best! And hope to hear how you're doing later down the road ^.^

Unfortunately, at my club, it’s very low volume with a spattering or very high-spending customers. So we spend a lot of time sitting around, which kills my hustle and mood. Drinking helped keep it up. I could make conversation with the other girls or the hosts until someone comes in...but you have to be VERY aggressive and I find this hard sober

Thank you! I hope you’re right that I’ll end up making more money. So far that hasn’t been the case...I have to stop drinking because when I drink at work it carries over into my personal life and causes a lot of problems. But I’m nervous that I’m too awkward or closed off to do this sober

I’m not a conventional alcoholic, but I tell people I am. Also, to keep waitresses from trying to get me to drink. You can say you started going to AA if you need people to quit trying to pour liquor down your throat. I’m not sure why people can’t hear the word no when you say you don’t want to drink, but saying I’m an alcoholic helps them hear “I’m not drinking!”

Also, I have drinks the look alcoholic that are not. Dump cans of beer out and fill with water. Cranberry juice is good substitute and good for you. Having a drink in your hand helps people from asking you over and over again if you want a drink. You can either lie and say it’s alcohol and pretend to be a drunk slut, or tell customers you already had some shots. Only if a customer doesn’t drink do I tell them I don’t, or it tends to be a buzz kill.

You’ll be a better sales person. Most sales people can’t drink on the job.

then it's just gonna take some time for you to get used to it. changing your mental state takes effort and consistency. alcohol makes you less inhibited so you just need to boost your natural confidence! I find that doing more social/public speaking type things really helps me to feel more confident at work.

Does Red Bull do anything for you? It puts me in a pretty good mood & amped up for when guys do come in.

It's gonna be just practice otherwise. The longer you work sober the better you'll get at it.

Club soda and cranberry. You can trick your mind into thinking there's vodka in it. Wrap a napkin over the cup, so ppl don't ask what you're drinking.

Also, if I see a black card I go insta fake drunk. Lol. But that's just me being really fkn happy to see it.

I can relate. I'd come home drunk AF and was more prone to getting in arguments with my boyfriend. That didn't help our relationship. Then the next day I'd be hungover and couldn't run my necessary errands. I don't know your situation, but I was able to be open with those close to me about what I was doing. They held me accountable too!

Look, if you can do this job drunk, you can do it sober. How many things can people do better drunk?? People THINK they're more social tipsy/drunk, but have you ever sat at a bar all night sober and seen all the stages of alcohol effects? I have, and even tipsy people are more annoying than usual. People THINK they can drive ok after a few drinks, but have you ever been in a car with one? Or seen someone drive away? I cant name a single thing when alcohol helps you, other than you have more fun with your friends acting like fools at a party or night club. (Sure, some girls feel better after 1 drink at work. Fine. Just don't over do it)

There is NOTHING people do better with alcohol. They just get the illusion that things are better because alcohol releases chemicals to make you feel happy and euphoric. You're just relearning to be a stripper. Give your self as much time as necessary to transition. Some girls its a week, others a year. Who cares if it takes you 5 years to get comfortable. Just don't quit your path to work sobriety! Your world is about to get a whole lot better. ^.^ Its not going to be easy, but nothing in life worth a damn is easy. =) And if my method doesn't work, don't stop trying. There's a way to get sober and start making more money long term than all those drunk girls.

Set a reward for yourself if you work x amount of shifts sober, like a new makeup item or inexpensive article of clothing. It's hard at first-it's just one of those things that gets easier the more you do it.

Drink coffee or sugar free Red Bull before your shift and listen to your favorite music to pump you up.

Play the rejection game-see how many rejections you can get in a row. I know it sounds dumb, but it gets you used to approaching every customer.

It's faster to drink a shot than sit there and drink a drink, so you can ask for vodka shots, but ask the bartender to give you shots of water instead so that if the customer doesn't want a dance, you can get away faster.

For guys that want you to party and do shots with them, I would pretend to be drunk already and say something like "OMG, they already cut me off from drinking because I had sooo much earlier! I'm soooo drunk! But I'd love to have some fun with you in the back!"

Idk about some of you, but I had to stop drinking Red Bull. I would go to work, get a red bull, be sober, and wake up the next day feeling hung over tired.

Whole Foods discontinued my favorite organic drink, so now I do double shot expresso at work.

Same! That weird slept-like-shit-and-I'm-dehydrated-af feeling sucks! I think it has to do with the megadose of b12 rather than the caffeine. our bodies aren't supposed to be flooded with b vitamins like that it can cause nerve damage.

hahahahaha black card drunk, I love it!!! yes, just carry a fruity drink or red bull or nothing. I prefer nothing, i can move around better.

Also i prefer when they don't buy me a drink so i can go straight to the hustling and working to taking them for dances or VIP. Waiting for waitresses slows down and interrupts my hustle.

When they ask, say a bottle of water. they will respect you more actually. if they complain, you know they are just there to get drunk in company. I've found guys that are focused on enjoying girls don't care as much about the drinking aspect of the club.
