Is there anything I can do to help the bruising on my knees go down before my next shift? How do you ladies deal with the pain and discomfort while doing floor work?

Honestly the bruises are just something that goes away with time if you’re a new dancer. You’ll still get them after you’ve been dancing for a while, but not as bad. Bruises usually aren’t super visible on stage, anyways, and most customers don’t notice or care if they see them. I always wear stockings, which makes sliding on the floor a bit easier, but practicing and keeping your movements fluid will help.

I spend most of my stage sets doing floor work so I’m pretty bruised up too. What helps with my knee pain is Wearing thick thigh highs to help with the discomfort and applying a roll on pain relief gel. Rolling it over my knees is soothing and helps them heal faster. So Tuesday I’ll wear fishnets or nada cause guy that likes toes comes in.

The next morning I’ll be sore so I’ll apply an ice pack for about 10 mins on both knees then use the roll on pain relief gel. If I work again that night I do thick thigh highs. I don’t normally work back to back nights though so I can heal. Hope that helps.

I’ve been having this same problem as well and wondering what to do. My knees and elbows have bruises I usually do quite a bit of floor work along with a few pole moves. Stockings or long song will definitely help you avoid these. You may also get bruises and pain when trying new pole tricks. You could try some sort of healing ointment and seeing if that helps or use aloe Vera.

Arnica cream works really well for bruises alongside ice or soaking in a hot bath, I do a lot of pole work so have to deal with battered legs after every shift, arnica cream is the way!!

Icing the bruised area helps and I second the Arnica suggestion. There is Arnica cream and also the little pellets that you can place under your tongue and let them dissolve. I've used both but have used the pellets more. It comes in a little blue tube and it's by a company called Boiron. They call it Arnica Montana 30 C. I have tendency to bruise easy. It really does work. Thigh highs might be tricky to dance in but you can try it. Bruises can also be camouflaged with makeup in the meantime.
