Default fosta and otc/extras + raids

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/sex-wo...tutes-in-peril

all the articles like this popping up have got me thinking. i'm curious if anyone already has, or thinks they're going to start noticing an increase in prostitution and if that's going to be the start of more raids. as frustrating as it might be i honestly can't blame escorts for turning to strip clubs if that's their safest option. obviously clubs are far more ideal than the streets.

i don't judge girls or customers for engaging that stuff and try to mind my own business but it worries me. i've been through one raid unscathed but who knows if i'd be so lucky next time? i've gotten so paranoid i reported an old guy to my manager the other night because he blatantly asked if i could find anyone to help him out with buying cocaine within 1 minute of sitting down, and he seemed strangely sober and proper. normally i'd just say "no sorry i don't do that", walk away and forget about it but i'm very suspicious lately and it's stressful!

I really do wonder how strip clubs will be impacted. The Internet was not necessarily the greatest thing to happen to strip clubs, but the language of this bill is not supportive of any type of adult work. Shutting down online sexual performance will definitely lead more performers back to the club, and more clients back to the club as well. We'll probably see an increase in street prostitution. Usually, I would assume the clubs would "dirty" up even more under these circumstances, but taking into consideration the increasing amount of raids going on simultaneous to the emergence of these bills, I can't help but feel they will just re-zone and raid the shit out of clubs to, essentially, put sex work out of business.

This is a cultural reactionary knee-jerk, imo. There is always backlash when progressive change has taken place. Being a stripper, sex worker, does not have the same stigma attached to it as it did in 2005, 2007, even 2011. The direction our culture will take, however, appears right now to be ambiguous (at best).

It's also an effect of sensationalist anti-human trafficking propaganda, which is really just a repeat of the whole White Slave Trades narrative that resulted in the Mann Act around 1910, I think. Ew.

I think this will absolutely result in more escorts moving to the clubs. Where else can they go now if all of the sites that they were advertising on have been shut down? They're either going to go to the clubs or the streets. I've been noticing some things going on in regards to the latter and I live in a more upscale area. It is getting bad everywhere now because of all this crap.

Things will probably revert back to the way it was done before the internet....good old brick and mortar.

I personally think it will create higher competition and harder hustle for dancers - IF escorts come to the clubs hustling their escort business inside the club. and also the sheer numbers as more women means men have options so they can be choosy with their money.

Also it may tip the scales in favor of the men entering the club. If they can't call up an escort as easy as they used to, then they will hit the strip clubs, spend their little entry fee, then go hustling dancers for OTC or escort moonlighting. Also pimps ain't going nowhere. There will be more of them in the clubs looking for dancers to 'manage'/ put pressure on their dancer 'gfs' to (literally) squeeze as much money out as many customers in the club

If city politicians (especially more conservative ones) realize former/current escorts are now working in strip clubs - don't be surprised if your club sees a New Orleans style raid/shutdown/tighter laws which will lead to a more aggressive hustle (if you stay in the club as your only source of income) cause you know they think every damn thing is pr*stitution and sex-tr*fficking.

I think if club owners keep clubs as strictly dance clubs, filter who they hire/employ/let enter as customer, then it will work out - otherwise the thread will turn into that "What strip club is not going downhill fast" thread.

Also I personally do not think ladies should be posting info that would help them - where lurkers, unhelpful males, and people whose goal is to shut down adult industry can easy access this info. Be careful what you publicly post.

Make no mistake - they weren't thinking about the advancement of females in adult industry with these laws.

Just gotta adapt and move forward.

I don't judge anyone for how they make their money, but what's always concerned me is that a lot of the customers who come to the club looking for extras or "a girl to take home" are customers who were either too cheap to go to escorts, or had in some way had been blacklisted from the escorts. So these dudes are either broke, stupid, or violent, and that's just not a good scene and it makes me worried about everyone's safety.

Now, though, I feel like this summer is going to be hell, both with the former BP customers and LEOs coming in looking for some easy tickets. There's already rumors circulating in my city about some raids possibly coming up, and at one of my clubs there was a definite noticeable increase in undercovers (they think they're slick but they stick out like no one's business). They'll most likely be targeting clubs that they've been eyeing for a while, so the ones that are known for having some seedy connections or business ties, in attempts to bring those down in one big movement, and then move towards individual ticketing at some of the more profitable clubs. This is a game for them, they don't give a damn about our safety.

Reading this over again, I think you were right to be suspicious. I would be willing to bet that you were speaking to a LEO; they do the exact same thing here with wasting zero time in trying to get you to do something incriminating. They're out to ticket people as quickly as possible, for the most part. Or worse, they start building up a case against you. Trust your gut and be safe. <3

In some ways that is a good thing. A "house" for girls is a safe space that lends some organization & protection to the girls.

Just tell the manager. Problem solved. If he gives a shit and fire the escorts, great. He should if he wants the damn club open still.
