I have struggled with this for years and tried everything, but everyone skin is different. I shave sideways both ways, not in the direction of hair growth or against it. I notice when I use any shaving creams or soap, irritation always. I get my legs moist with hot water, use a razor only with two blades and only use water to shave. For bikkini area, I notice I can do a quick swoop after I dry my skin but it is still a bit moist to get any leftover hairs, shaving against the grain. Baby smooth. I just developed this method in the past few months and it is working out so well. I strggled with this issue all of my life and notice if I let hair grow out for a few days I get better results shaving. It sucks in the summer lol. I only shave about once a week.

I have tried tendskin to special and expensive bikini only products and even good old fashioned white stick deodorant (sw's most recommended suggestion for me) Bikinizone and similar after shave products burn like hell so skin will only get more inflammed and irritated before it gets better. I have had my best results using raw aloe vera from the leaf, with neosporin. I also love using coconut oil after a shave, and neosporin on irritated areas. Cold pressed organic coconut oil, contrary to popular belief is not the best oil for the skin, but I find it wonderful for after shaving. Immediately gets rid of any stinging situation going on and legs and bikkini area look amazing the next day. I find this coconut oil/neosporin combo heals wounds really fast and reduces inflammation on the skin. I wish I knew this remedy in my teens, I am 35 now and razor burn and being unable to shave due to it has been a lifelong battle for me lol.

I must recommend this product as well. I got the remington I-Light pro late 2017. I got the one with refillable cartridges. It is an ipl unit, different from professional laser hair removal. I am shocked to say I have noticeable results. I wanted to recommend this to sw but I haven't yet. It says to treat every two weeks, and then once a month for maintenance. I treated once a week for about 5 weeks, saw results after the 3rd treatment and only get stubborn patches now. I do zap once or twice a month depending as hair grows in cycles. I also noticed that some hairs are much more stubborn than others, so I have to treat those areas more. I got lucky and the unit was on sale for $180 when I purchased on amazon with gift card (thanks internet leg slave) I get 3 treatments out of each cartridge that runs $20. I do full legs, bikkini line, happy trail and lower back hairs lol so all of these areas I get to treat 3 times with each cartridge. When I slack I notice the hair will grow back, but this is by no means permanent. If untreated for a few months, hair will grow back but reviews on the product say that it is much finer and I have noticed this too. When you complete 6 or so treatments and only do it once a month for maintenance you will be hair free for up to 6 months, but many users, myself included notice patches of hair growing back. ZAP ZAP ZAP! I love this IPL, it does hurt a bit but just have a few drank or pop a pain pill or some kratom and u'll be fine. It takes much longer for hair to grow back, you can be hair free for the most part for a while, zapping only once a month. It is so nice to have the silky smooth legs I have always dreamed of! I will use this product and others like it for a while. I wouldn't mind getting 3-4 professional laser treatments in the future, in Vegas we have pay as you go places. I would have still needed 10+ pro laser treatments. $20 for a cartridge or $100 per month or treatment? Up to $1,000-1200 for laser hair removal not even on all of the areas I treat at home....To me the home based IPL was the best option and I recommend this specific one to everyone. I only wish I took before and afters lol.

Oh I almost forgot. you have ethnic hair and I do as well. Your hair even down below grows back kinky/curly which gives us both this problem, I got a little thingy from amazon that helps with razor burn and ingrowns. I use it right before shaving, and a day or two later to prevent new ones from occurring as hair grows back. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072ZYGB95...&pd_rd_w=4mHJn

Baby oil and a sharp new razor is the old school hack for shaving with no bumps.

Put hot towels on your bikini area first too.

^ I have heard of this and tried it, for me the razor just clogs up very quickly, and it didn't allow for a close enough shave. Lesigh. Skin would feel baby soft but telltale stubble only an hour later from not "getting close enough"..I think the baby oil is too slippery for a razor to catch all of the hairs.

Waxing probably works for people who get ingrown. I know it's gruesome but it's effective.

The only time I don't get ingrowns is when I get waxed. I get "sugared" because normal wax hurts me.

I use male razors (I have a Gillette Fusion Razor with exchanging heads) and male shaving gel (Nivea Sensitive). Female razors simply suck. And they are expensive too.
-I am gently exfoliating the skin before I am shaving and after shaving.
-After that, I use this cream (Avene Cicalfate) https://www.amazon.com/Eau-Thermale-...vene+cicalfate
And I actually use it for 2-3 days in a row, after each shower.
I haven't had issues with razor burn ever since. That cream is holy grail.

PS: I also use this cream after waxing my moustache )) It calms down the irriations by magic and gets into the skin. I used to have little pimples after waxing the moustache/ tweezing the eyebrows . Now, they are all gone!

Nair/ Veet cream will not leave razor burn. You have to grow your hair out to wax it and shaving isn’t for everyone. If you can’t take the creams shave against your hair pattern and exfoliate the area.

Before electrolysis the only thing that would for sure prevent me from getting razor burn was to soak in a hot shower or bath for a long time before shaving.
