Default Trump signs executive order pushing work requirements for the poor

    http://money.cnn.com/2018/04/10/news...nts/index.html

The move is the latest step in the administration's effort to require low-income Americans to work for their federal benefits. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services earlier this year began allowing states to mandate that certain Medicaid enrollees must work for the first time in the program's history, while the Department of Housing and Urban Development is looking into the issue for those in subsidized housing.

California has been doing this for decades. Don't believe all the things you hear about Blue states throwing government cheese parties for Welfare Queens and Suitcase Pimps & building Mansions with Section 8 funds.....

I'm starting to think our Congress is full of better liars than any Executive Board of Directors in Hollywood.......

What if you have Medicaid due to a disability and can't work?

The one thing I HATE about this is many low-income Americans are low-income because THEY CAN'T FIND JOBS or THE JOBS DO NOT PAY A LIVING WAGE.

Basically this whole law is based on the fallacy that you are poor because you choose to be and because you are lazy. Of course there will always be that one person that really is a mooch, but that is not the majority. Most people I see struggling desperately want jobs or more hours and they can only get a minimum wage part time job.

Well.....They definitely should make the dead beat dads/moms who claiming to be poor and allowing the government to support their kids be forced to get to work.

This will be hard to prove like who is ABLE to work and who is not. I think most people on welfare want to work and provide so they dont have to endure the struggles of poverty long term.

I can see this being challenged as somehow unconstitutional? But it looks like states will decide so If a person lives in a shitty state then they could move to a state where they'd get benefits without a bunch of red tape/hoop jumping.

    I also notice

"Plus, state Medicaid agencies won't get any additional federal funding to help recipients find and hold jobs, even though they are generally not equipped to develop, provide, and administer work support programs, said MaryBeth Musumeci, associate director of Kaiser's Program on Medicaid and the Uninsured.

"The new [state programs] will penalize individuals by having them lose health coverage, rather than incentivize them, as a voluntary program with adequately funded supportive services necessary to overcome barriers, would," she said."

If they are going to penalize people by dropping their insurance then they should help them find jobs if that is the requirement to maintain the ins.

The agencies have 90 days to submit a list of recommended policy and regulatory changes.

I believe your state will have to come out a policy to identify the elderly, disability recipients, children, students from the general public. If you are elderly and poor, I doubt you will find any job that pays.
My question will be, what is the type of the work that will qualify the SNAP? Community service?

A lot of wealthy people have a phobia of being not wealthy & it informs their whole being.

A relative of mine experienced a "riche$ to ragsss" reality after her husband died & she actually literally lost her fucking mind. Her worst phobia was being poor & it happened. She could not deal with it.

My time as a stripper re-enforced my beliefs as a left-leaning voter. I've had rich customers who laugh about abusing the corporate expense card, or related small time scammish rich guy shit. Remember, when White Collar Douchebags scam, they're ENTITLED to it. When hard luck poor people need a helping hand, they're disgusting dirty welfare cheats. Ewww, dirty poor people, is the rich person's little personal victory over others. I might be [insert personal failing here]..but I'm not POOR!

I don't want to rant about politics and current events, but trust me, never believe everything people tell you. Believe half of what you see and NONE of what you hear.....

True. I know a man used his corporate creditcard to fly his whole family to France to play golf there. And he does like to brag about it.

    UGH!!!!!!!!

Not all rich people are this way. (My dad's boss comes from dynastic wealth but the dude wears Wranglers and does BBQ get togethers at the family ranches- all 10 of them)

I'd say the "lazy rich" eventually start spilling the beans about all their scams to milk money that isn't theirs. Smart rich people know better.

Let’s say you are a dancer with a kid, the bf or ex husband Is a deadbeat. You barely can survive and need time to take care of your kid. I don't believe they will consider your work at a strip club or in front of the cam meets the requirement.
And what can you do in that case to get help?

I have always had some kind of "money anxiety"
Maybe it's from watching my mom take care of me and my brother without any support from my dad
I've made some bad decisions when it comes to my money and income and I've had some times of financial struggle
I still have it . I do the best I can, I work, I hustle for side money. It's a never ending cycle in my head some days.

I believe if you can’t find work you still should be required to volunteer unless medically proven unable

So few people are unable to do anything (volunteer for suicide phone line is not physical)

I understand this but some people are so ......mentally challenged that they are a detriment to work places. I honestly feel disability income is well spent on mentally disabled people because it prevents disruptive, crazy people from being introduced into workplaces where other people are trying to build business or build careers.

I'm probably angering people with my statement but I have relatives who work in stressful industries & you cannot allow head cases to ruin a workplace or disturb other workers. I've also had many different jobs & in some occupations you have to be tenacious/ focused on getting things done just to meet the bare minimum of what is demanded.

That's not the type of position I would want to force someone to take, or give to someone who isn't qualified.
