    Question Spearmint Rhino Vegas

I've heard the SR franchise has started paying their dancers, or giving them 1099's. Anyone have experience with this, especially in Vegas? Was wanting to audition there because they don't require a business license, but I also don't want a 1099 or w-2 either.

They do send you a tax form, yes. You do not get a paycheck, no.

Thanks for the info. Is it from cc sales or do they keep track of cash dances as well? The club I danced at in Houston area would do a tax form for card purchases, but they also said they were an special events planning company so I didn't have to file under an sob.

^^^ I know SR in WPB will give you a paycheck or bonus check if you do a lot of VIPS there. The year I worked at SR WPB they sent me a 1099 for that year. They're all owned by the same guy. So they're all fairly similar. Maybe they don't give you checks at the Vegas location. I never worked there at that location.

Many chains have started issuing 1099s to dancers to protect their own asses without covering yours. It's their way of saying to the IRS, "Yep, this person is working here and is liable for their own taxes" as a way to legitimize their business and to let the IRS know that they should expect to receive taxes from you. Ick.

It’s normal to get a 1099 from clubs that run cards...they don’t wanna pay taxes on your income. Interestingly, none of the Vegas clubs I’ve worked at have ever sent me one but Jaguars Phoenix did. Personally, I’ve accepted more paperwork as just a part of travel dancing (my home club does not issue 1099s).

My club in SoCal didn't do a 1099 unless you cashed in your cc chips for a check. My Houston club did 1099's for charges, but they listed themselves as an event company and you could have them list you as a server, bartender or whatnot. Anything that disassociated from a sc/sob. Which was awesome.

Ick is right! Have no problem with paying taxes, but I don't want my ss# and my work history forever linked to this industry.

Yeah! I hear ya! You either work at a place that does that or not. I know many dancers that want a 1099. Others that don't. It's a personal decision.
