Default Feasible to Quit Job to Return to Dancing?

Hi Ladies! I currently work a full-time, salaried job and it is just causing me so much anxiety and depression. I have until the end of June with this job before my new one begins in July, but I hate literally everything about it. I'm constantly late to work and leave early because I can't stand the people, the work, the overall atmosphere. I cry most nights and am counting down the days until I leave.

I want to quit before June, to give a two-weeks' notice tomorrow. I currently make 1500/pay period, so 3000/month.

I haven't danced in years, and am just starting to get back into shape. I live in the NE (Philly). Is it worth it to quit in two weeks as we're approaching summer, or do you think I should just stick it out until the end of June? I would need to make what I'm currently making.

Any words of encouragement/help are greatly appreciated, as always. Thank you!

I'd go for it. 3K a month is too little to hate your job with a passion.

I would quit and go back to dancing. For sure you would make more than $3k/mo dancing. It's not worth hating life and crying yourself to sleep at night. However, I would be careful and think everything through. If you're serious about this new job and if it's going to be a great opportunity for you, I would dance in another city. I wouldn't want to risk running into anyone from your new work environment. Yes, chances are slim and they probably wouldn't recognize you even if they did, but it's a wise precautionary measure.

So that's what I would be doing now, but I'm moving to FL in July. It is a really good opportunity, but I wanted to also dance when I move. I'm thinking that might not be wise now....

Personally I'd wait until summer is over. Then you have time to get used to it again & get your hustle back while there's money around to be gotten easily.

ONly if you got some savings first and don't quit on bad terms in case you need them for a reference or to go back to later. It's better to moonlight, to make sure the new job will work/provide income that will help you leave the day job, than to just quit your job with nothing to fall back on

This is the best advice and what I am actually doing right now. I don’t hate my job, I was just unemployed for too long and I’ve broken up with my bf (again but it’s amicable) so I’ll be working my new job and moonlighting.

Please stick it out. I know it’s hard, I’ve worked a job I hated and cried at my desk more times than I’d like to admit. One day I just walked out and thought I could just dance. BAD IDEA! My motivation to audition dwindled after being rejected from one club. I was too lazy to keep trying. I ended up loosing my sponsor, getting evicted and moving back to the same place I ran from. I had no savings and went back to a different job I hated but worked at before.

I’ve since left that job and have one the I love, with better pay. It’s given me the time to be able to go back to dancing and hopefully accelerate my financial plan.

June is not far. We’re almost finished with may. June is brining changes for myself as well. Just gotta stay patient. You got this!

Thank you so much for this, and thank you everyone who has posted. This is why I love being a member on this site - you ladies give sound advice free from judgment.

I am going to try my hardest to stick it out. I have my calendar and a countdown until my last day, lol. 51 days! I can do this. I made it through almost 11 months, I can make it through a little more than a month, right? I just need to walk in, do my job, and remind myself that it's only temporary.

Sweetcrush, I hope that whatever changes come for you in June are amazing!

You can do this!, I work at a hotel and hated working front desk, I told them I wanted to work the bar and started to do a bit of training in March when one of the guys said he would be leaving around May-June. I hated front desk ever changing schedule and horrible co workers and customers. I even trained at the bar for free in any spare time I had because I figured if the guy did not leave I would get the training and work elsewhere!. 3 weeks ago I thought I had had enough and started to look for other jobs then the guy had a falling out and left and they told me I had to work the bar on the weekend alone!. I was nervous but I coped, I had to do front desk for first week also so I went to GM and told them please hire someone else for front desk he did quickly and now I just do the bar. I work 3 days instead of 5 and have a set schedule. I really needed another day then all of sudden other bartender told me he will be doing other things soon so wants me to work another day. So I am happy and glad I stuck it out. I been crying since Feb working at front desk. So I would advise to just stick it out and vent on here if you need to. Goodluck x
    xoxo
