I used to be a nurse; can't legally give medical advice BUT try a natural senna laxative. Coffee also helps and make sure to drink lots of water.

Thanks. I’ve tried all kinds of different things. Coffee has no effect on me. I am a true coffee addict but it just makes me pee. I try to keep my water intake high. I know I don’t drink enough water but I do try. I’ve had this issue a long time and nothing really seems to help tbh. What’s a natural senna lax?

What did the doctors tell you? So you won't be treating constipation anymore but rather prevent it. Have you tried eating pears on an empty stomach in the morning? Some people had positive (and immediate) benefits eating them.

haha well I'll say out of experience that give the baskin robbins cappacino blast a trynot only will you have a nice bowel movement, you'll be hyper for hours
I drink those now instead of Starbucks lol same price & everything. Or try aloe vera tablets. You can get them at whole foods.

I'd recommend a laxative tea with senna. Ballerina tea will definitely help. Look at your diet for a longterm solution, though. Too much meat, dairy, and processed foods will cause constipation. Are you drinking enough water? Are you eating enough fresh fruits and vegetables? Eat tons and tons of greens and make sure you're getting enough fiber. A good way to see how "backed up" you are is to eat fresh beets. Beets will turn your stool red. If your stool is red within 24-48 hours, you're on target. If it's longer, you are chronically constipated.
A lot of people are chronically constipated and they don't know it because they're "regular" meaning they go at least once a day. But you could be so constipated that you're pooping out last week's food. Up your water and greens, and then try the beets to see how your body is doing.
I’ve never heard of Ballerian tea...I like teas so definitely am open to trying it. Diet doesn’t seem to effect it much. I’ve had period so of super healthy eating and period soft eating like crap and not noticed it making things better or worse. I swear fiber can make it worse. I’ve tried upping fiber and it just makes things ummm. Bigger and not in a good way. How often is everyone going? I’m going to guess I’m backed up most of the time. The beets test is interesting. Have you tried it?

I second drinking a senna tea that helps move things along. Smooth Mooth by Traditional Medicinals or a good organic peppermint tea is also good.
Where do you buy it at?

You can get the one I mentioned at most grocery stores(we have Publix and they always have it) and definitely at Whole Foods. I've never tried Ballerina Tea but I will be looking into it! I am all about staying regular cause I swear my skin glows when I am and obviously abs look better when not bloated!
How often do you go? I’ve noticed when I’m backed up I have more skin issues like acne.

what do you eat?
bananas can make you go to bathroom

I used to struggle with this to horrific levels- like once a week bm kinda deal
Since going vegan I can p much set a watch by my bathroom trips. I think cutting out dairy is HUGE- we're all at least mildly lactose intolerant and are just used to the bloating and discomfort that it causes because it's been fed to us our entire lives.
Re: fiber- just straight up adding fiber can actually make the problem worse because your body has to adjust to it. You want to introduce it slowly.
Also doing a green juice in the morning can really help- juicing removes the insoluble fiber from veggies and leaves you with the soluble fiber which is easy to digest and moves things along right quick. It's probably a great idea to start off doing that for a bit to "kickstart" things because if chronic constipation has been around for most of your life your bowel muscles can be weak/sluggish from not being used to working like they should.

You can buy it on Amazon, at Walmart, etc. I've found it at Publix. I second SuperJa, introduce the fiber slowly otherwise it can be too much of a shock to your system. I eat a vegan diet and I go about twice a day. Yes, I've tried the beets! I got this tip from a book called "How Not to Die" by Dr. Michael Greger. It really is a good way to see how quickly your food is being digested.
Twice a day?? WTF.

Yep, you're supposed to be going once or twice a day. If you're not going at least once a day, something is wrong. I recommend going on a vegan juice cleanse. All the other suggestions in this thread are great too.

My understanding is anything from three times a day to once every three days is healthy.

A fresh grapefruit, (1/2 is fine) with coffee.
Sesame, chia seeds.
I personally don't care for laxitives (even natural)
My friend's Dr. recommends Metamucil

someone else on here recommended kimberly snyders books. she's amazing! it's basically vegan, so lots of veggies and lemon water every morning. since i started following her advice, i go every morning like clockwork which is so funny cause that's what she says will happen. i was very constipated as well. she also goes into digestion and food combining, it's very interesting and really works for me.
I had a huge problem with this when I was on pain meds for the wisdom teeth I had pulled. In general, laxatives are pretty strong and you WILL feel physical discomfort and have to be near a bathroom. I'd recommemd something gentle, like a stool softener and/or prune juice. Apologies for the taste. But you'll have more control over your body and it won't be an emergency when you finally go. I don't know if you'd be ok with getting a colonic. I got one once and I was great for a month after it. It's not cheap, it's a bit humiliating, and it IS somewhat uncomfortable. Your stomach will be super flat and you'll feel pretty regular for about a month. Jesus. Here I am talking about colonics, with my real picture as an avatar. My shyness has definitely gone away over the years lol.
