Most doctors here say to go every 3 months, so I do.
Going too often runs the risk of tests not detecting things if it's too soon after exposure, so it's just a waste of time going too often.

It depends...When I was doing full time, I see my regulars often. Some of them who I trust for years, so I have STD check up like every 3-4 months. But there was a time that I toured around the east coast and LA...I saw lots of new customers...I do STD every month at least.

Also, you mentioned the STD out break. So I will enforce condom only policy as much as I can.

You should look into Truvada. The company that makes it has programs to make it affordable for everyone.

When I escorted part-time I had checkups every 3 or 4 months. I haven't escorted in a about a year, but I still get checkups every 3 or 4 months because I tend to be reckless in my sexlife.

I also want to point out the correct time frame for the different STD testing.

That's why you need to do the regular STD testing even though you are not "in business" for a while. I am going to get tested next week.

Some STD take a long time to develop and the others are fairly quick. It's always better to catch it at the earlier stage.

The window period for accurate testing after exposure are as follows: Chlamydia, 1 to 5 days; Gonorrhea, 2 to 6 days; HIV RNA, 9-11 days; Hepatitis (A & B), 3 to 6 weeks; Hepatitis C, 8 to 9 weeks; Herpes type 1 & 2, 4-6 weeks; Syphilis, 3 to 6 weeks; HIV 4th generation as soon as 21 days after exposure have passed. (According to the CDC, 97% of persons will develop detectable antibodies within the first 3 months after exposure to an STD.)

When you can get tested for an STD depends a lot on which STD you want to get tested for.

The two most common STDs, chlamydia and gonorrhea, can be effectively tested for 14 days after sexual contact. If you have sexual contact and get tested less than two weeks afterwards, it is possible that the test will show a positive result, but a negative result isn't reliable.

If you want to get tested for HIV or for syphilis, you must wait a longer amount of time before the test will be accurate. Waiting 90 days is considered a safe amount of time. You will be able to get an accurate test result if you go in for your test three months after sexual contact.

When it comes to herpes, you cannot get a reliable test result until you first experience symptoms. That can take a different amount of time for different people. Once you experience symptoms for the first time, you can get a blood test that will accurately detect whether or not you have an infection.

If you believe that you have an STD, it is important to confirm that suspicion by getting yourself tested. You should also abstain from sexual activity until you have been diagnosed, started treatment, and understand ways to practice safe sex.

Have you read the side affects for women?
How long it takes to be effective which is way longer than it is for men?
How the test subjects for the women are sketchy at best?
How much it cost without health insurance?
And how you have to take it everyday for the rest of your life as they recommend?

It only prevents HIV NOT any other STDs.

I think it is an amazing breakthrough in medicine. Anyone interested can obviously do their own research and decide for them-self.
