    Finances do keep a lot of shitty marriages together. I have plenty of friends and relatives that are married on paper but do their own thing otherwise. Life is easier in the long run that way.

    For me, they are overrated. I'm not a traditional career type of woman. I make good money and pay for my own health care and since I'm in perfect health, it's not a big issue for me. I'd rather be self employed and have unlimited earning potential than work for some asshole who pays me a fixed salary and expects me to live my life around the job he gave me. No vanilla job is ever truly secure, you can always be fired. And the benefits just dont make it worth it to me!
