Sorry if this has been asked. I did search but couldnt see anything.
I just wondered if anyone had a problem getting a mortgage when their Self Assessment states they are a Webcam model.
Thanks x

There is definitely more then one way to get a mortgage at least I know that for Canada. a broker, a bank, a lender. it's more of proving you have the income and your credit score. not really on the job title.

Not so much the being a camgirl part, but it's very difficult on getting a mortgage being self employed. All UK banks want 3 years of paperwork and will then take the average of those 3 years as your income. Sucks for me as I earn more every year and was pregnant last year so had lots of time off.
There are a few banks that only require 1 or 2 years of paperwork but they seem to be super strict.
I would love to hear any advice and experiences from UK girls.

I got my mortgage in 2012 no problem, i did put down 25% deposit though. I also had an excellent credit score and no other debt other than student loan. Before i applied for my mortgage people were lining up to tell me it was impossible as a self employed person but they offered me more than i needed so dont be put off![]()
Thanks for your reply miss cleo. The rules and terms for self employed mortgages have changed after 2012 though. I was gutted I didn't apply for one in 2012, it is much more difficult right now.

I personally wouldn't use Webcam model myself especially under this current climate. Most mortgages last till your 60 is it? & I think the lender might consider any kind of modelling work as unreliable - which it is really & not a safe bet.
I think something like Internet Marketing or something similar might sound more re-assuring to a lender and it's not a lie.

I have a 20% deposit so pretty large. I have 3 years of accounts at average earnings. My credit isn't too great due to an ex but working on building that up and don't actually owe anythng to anyone. My Self Assessment says 'Webcam Model' but considering going ltd so I can be a bit more economical with the truth - Director of an entertainment company for example. I just didnt know if anyone had got a mortgage based on working in this industry. I know Self Employed people generally have to jump through more hoops but I wanted to know if there were more hoops being in the Adult industry.
I believe it was 20 to 25% deposit for self employed. And who knows what will happen after brexit.

I have dancer as my job title.

You can change your job title on your self assessment when you next fill in it @Lola. I wouldn't use Webcam model to apply for a mortgage because it probably wouldn't be listed as an occupation in box that will need ticking ( like when you apply for car insurance).
If I was applying for a mortgage these days I'd probably say I was an IT operative or maybe internet marketing. On my self assessment I put down Adult Entertainer but, I wouldn't like to chance putting that job description on a mortgage application.
Once you've sorted your job description you might be better with a Mortgage broker who has access to the full market because I've just had a quick look on-line now & I read that if you've got an iffy credit rating then the last thing you want is financial organisation doing hard credit checks because it make your rating tank even more. The less frequent checks the better & a broker will have a good idea anyway which mortgages will be best without running checks.
