    Default Bartender interrupting hustle

I guess technically she's a cocktail waitress/server. I have never seen her at work before and I'm almost positive she is new to the club. Anyways, last night was really slow and I was hustling a guy who seemed like he was about to go dance with me (maybe not but I can usually sense these things). Right as I was about to close, the girl came over to offer us a shot. Okay cool, we decide to do one. She then literally starts giving him a mini lap dance at the table in the middle of my hustle (the dance lasted about a minute) then asks for the $20 for the shots, plus tip. Now I admit it's a smart idea to make an extra $5 tip lol (that's what he gave her), but I have not once seen any other cocktail waitresses or bartenders dance on a guy's lap at work before. I wasn't even aware it's allowed and I'm not totally sure it is. After tipping her she left, and his demeanor seemed to change and he was not interested in a dance. Whether or not this is due to her I'm not totally sure, but why would he be in the mood to spend $30 or more for a lap dance when he just got one for tipping $5?

I didn't let it ruin my mood or screw up my hustle, I made money off someone else after that. I'm just wondering if others find this to be odd or if I should say something if it continues. I don't want to be a snitch but at the same time if she ruins, say, a champagne room sale in the future I will be livid. I saw her do this at other tables as well and the other dancers definitely seemed equally annoyed. If a fellow dancer interrupted a girl's hustle to give a mini lap dance to a customer who was already busy, she would be sent home. As far as I know, cocktail waitresses can only interrupt to sell drinks.

What would you do in this situation?

If it were me, I would tell her, "excuse me we are in the middle of a conversation." Don't be aggressive or passive, but be assertive and look her directly in the eyes. Not a glare, but an assertive look. Then go back to talking to the customer.

And to be honest, with this behavior I don't think she will last too long anyway. She sounds like one of those annoying attention-seeking girls who is all look "look at me I work at a strip club!" and then posts pics on Instagram. She is going to piss off all of the girls and won't last long.

Waitresses aren't supposed to be doing dances so she would is breaking the rules, but only go to management if she keeps doing it over and over.

I don't think she is allowed to do that. Tell the manager.

That actually is a thing nowadays & has been sadly. Ive seen ot several times at different clubs I've worked. They don't give a shit, they feel entitled somehow. It's sad really. Mngrs don't care bc that's usually lining their pockets so they can get away with it . It's a rat race these days as a dancer, so glad i finally quit.

I would tell management, I worked at a crazy club where waitress could do V.I.P but were not allowed to give dances apart from that, also next time she trys to serve you decline, use a waitress that you trust if you can. You don't need her doing that shit.

I'd probably tell the manager. Either way it sounds like she is about to have a lot of problems working there if she doesn't yet... I don't think she'll last.

Sometimes with people like that I gotta wonder if they realize what they are doing is cut-throat and can piss a lot of people off or if they are oblivious. There was a girl at one of my clubs recently that was cut-throat to just about everyone other than me and acted oblivious.. But I think she knew exactly what she was doing because she didn't dare try that shit with me hahaha...

Just remember one thing out of all this- that money that she got from the lap dance could have been your money. Catty comments and behavior can always be brushed off, but when it comes to your finances you need to lay that boundary down real quick. If she's new I'd have a conversation with her. If it doesn't go well, get the manager involved. Yeah, of course you don't want drama, but you wanna eat and get your bills paid too. She doesn't have to walk in those stilettos, deal with men insulting her, or deal with any of the shit that dancers have to deal with. When you work hard, you need to bite hard. Let her know what she did was inappropriate and that if she is not a dancer she should not be providing those services. She can apply for a dancer position just like everyone else did who is a dancer at your club.

If you're too scared of causing problems, bring it up to management anonymously that "one of the bar girls decided to do my job". It doesn't have to bring her up specifically and I'm sure management will be happy to have a quick meeting with all staff letting them know that what's going on is not ok.

Why don't you do the same? Interrupt her, and make money off the customer, while smiling in her face.
