The good news- you'll meet your fitness goals.
The bad news- alcohol metabolises into sugar, which usually turns into fat.
Just cutting out drinking altogether (for me) has sped up my weight loss.

Alcoholic drinks slow your metabolism.

There is 100 calories in a glass of wine. I limit myself to two or three glasses max which I have on Saturday night with dinner. I count calories so I fit it into my calorie count and dont worry about the fact that its sugar because I really have a very low sugar intake but if you have a higher sugar intake, sweets, fruits, juice etc then the glass of wine can be some of the worst calories you can take in.
Alcohol normally has a lot of calories and a lot of carbs. That's one of the main reasons why I rarely drink. If I were you I would cut it off completely while trying to lose weight.

I had a red wine obsession for awhile and gained about 5 lbs. I now only drink it occasionally and lost the 5 lbs despite still drinking other alcohol frequently.
So wine isn’t inherently fattening. It actually contains very little fat. What happens and this is with any alcohol is that your liver processes fats within your body but when you add alcohol into the mix your body and specifically your liver, will metabolism the alcohol first and then continue metabolizing fat. It takes your liver about 24-48 hours to fully metabolize alcohol and during this time your body, not being able to take care of the fat, ends up storing it at higher amount then normal. That is what ends up increasing someone’s weight dramatically.
just ended up learning this while getting my personal training certification and they have a whole section on alcohol within nutrition.
i know wine and any alcohol has a lot of calories but i just dont think they work the same way as food calories, im speaking just from my own experience...but it seems like your body wants to quickly get rid of everything thats in alcohol.
i had two phases where i was drinking a lot ---both times i was consuming 1500-2000 calories a day of just alcohol!! ( lol i know thats terrible) plus whatever calories of food. anyway i was consuming all that and losing weight. for me normally if i eat over 1500 calories i gain weight so...

All alcohol is fattening ( calories plus metabolic slow down ). If you are serious about weight loss you may have to cut back.
( damn it )

Metabolism does matter. I've worked with really thin girls (think wayyyy low end of the BMI) who drink like alcoholic dock workers and they stay thin. (Crack and other drugs might be part of the equation of weight loss for some of these chicks. I cannot lie.)
Also beer can fatten you very rapidly- apparently some parts of the States call beer "pork chop in a bottle"....
Unfortunately, alcohol has a high-calorie content. But calorie content is different, and there is also unwanted fat in some alcohol.
As I remember, there are not so many calories in wine(80-90). This is one of the few alcohols that should be consumed.

Let's just say that I'm pretty sure that NOT drinking is one of the reasons why I have no difficulty staying a reasonable size.
