    Default Sydney au clubs

    Hiya!

I’m a complete newbie looking to start dancing in Sydney, I’m new to dancing and new to the city.
I’ve seen some old threads regarding Sydney clubs but nothing newer than 2016.
Does anyone have any experience dancing in Sydney (and what ones are best for beginners) and any advice to give to a newbie

    Thanks! Xxx

Hi Pixirae. I spent some time working in Sydney, but it was a few years ago. Hopefully someone will have more up to date info for you, but some of this might assist as you're totally new to dancing:

There are 3 clubs in the CBD: Minx, Pure Platinum and Men's Gallery. From what I understand, these 3 clubs have a different vibe and clientele to the clubs in Kings Cross (that I know nothing about, sorry).

I worked at Minx. When I worked there, the club didn't open on Saturday nights, because they wanted to avoid attracting a drunk/party crowd. So it was just open 4 nights, Tue-Fri.

Accustomed to working in Melbourne, Minx was very low hustle and very low contact for me. It was mostly regular clientele, with money to spend. But no one really 'worked the room' hustling, from memory we mostly had to sit and chat to customers for ages before they wanted a dance.

The dances were 'air dances' - you had to be a minimum distance away from the customer and not touching them, in accordance with NSW law. The cops did regular walk throughs checking the lap dance rooms unannounced to confirm everyone was complying.

The lap dance areas were quite private, separated from the other rooms and the main floor area by hanging curtains.

You were paid a small, token amount for working a night - whereas in Melbs and elsewhere overseas I've worked, dancers have to pay a house fee to the club each shift.

Customers paid the club directly for all dances, and then dancers were paid out (minus the club's commission) at the end of each night.

The dress code was short, black dresses.

Stage sets were 15 minutes long, topless. No one ever tipped, and you never had to do dances for customers while onstage.

The best money that I made there was on days/nights they held special events: their birthday party, a Melbourne Cup party, a Christmas lunch event.

As you say you're new to the city, it's worth mentioning that you do need an Australian Business Number to work there, i.e. need to have the legal right to work in Australia, and you'll have to declare and pay tax on all income earned at Minx as you're never paid in cash by a custie, all earnings are recorded by the club.

    xx

I worked at Velvet Underground in 2015 and it was good and is apparently one of the only busier ones now (is in city too). PM me for more details on dances and prices businesses etc (might be a bit outdated but still relevant)
