Default Anyone Else Over 30, and dancing?!

I am returning to the bar, after 4 years off. I'm over 30. I look good, but I'm scared to go try and be in a bar full of 19 year olds. Or not get hired at all.
In AZ, there is such a mix of women. But I am new to MI, and I am totally scared. Shitless.

I am 34 and I still dance on occasion. I started at 21?22? The industry has changed a lot since then. I'd say go for it!
If you are new to it maybe go in as a customer first, get the feel for the place, see if that is the type of club you want to work in.
Of course you never know till you try.

From my experience, if you’re dancing in a club that’s 21 and up, there will definitely be a good amount of dancers in their 30s and 40s. I’m 33, I still dance.

32 here, and looking at dancing again on at least a part-time basis. I danced for five years then left the industry for another five. I feel the same anxiety about going back -- so many girls are much younger than me (even though I know I look good), I have a little flab to get toned (easy enough to fix) ... but my biggest fear is not being able to do well because of extras, even though I did just fine before. I don't know what the club climate is like in my area and haven't found much info here that's current.

But Gelsey is right, because anyone can tell you anything about a particular city or club. Best way to find out is to start scouting as a customer and then jump in at the place that seems to be best for you. I will be doing it in another month or so if the vanilla job I am trying to land falls through.

Don't hesitate to club-hop a bit if you need to, and have the option. It can be a good thing to do even after you settle on a club you like.

I live in MI. I'm over 30 myself. I've danced with women who were mid 30s and one who was 43 but still looked great. If you look good, you look good. I wouldn't worry too much about it because some clubs in MI(Detroit area) have been getting desperate or something, hiring the nasty looking toothless Tina's with obvious track marks or crystal meth face. Try out different clubs.

In a man’s world, women do lose value as they age. Just because those are the social rules doesn’t mean you have to accept them-rules are meant to be broken. As long as you can deal with the push back there’s nothing wrong with living life on your own terms. Age is the low hanging fruit of insults (thanks snuffleuffelgrass)- don’t take it personally. I’m 33 and have Botox and fillers. I have no plans to quit so long as I’m making money. I do well with younger guys...I’m okay with that (smile). I don’t think there’s any shame in being an older dancer. Would I rather be married with kids to an asshole that doesn’t appreciate me, or make money rubbing my hot body on young guys. As far as I’m concerned, I’m very lucky to be able to do this at my age.

I really appreciate everyone's responses!!! I love that there are so many of us! In AZ, its a total variety of girls. Ages, races, body types, personalities, etc all different and a really chill place to be.
I am in SW Michigan, so it's all bikini bars. I have to travel a bit to check out the bars. Lansing, Ann Arbor, etc. It's all about a 2 hour drive, which I do not mind at all if I am making money. But to check out clubs, I have to make a night of it in each place.
Again, thank you all so much for your responses!!! It makes me feel so much better about my decision!!!

I'm almost 35. I still dance and mostly travel to dance. I haven't had any issues because of my age looks wise but I can tell it is harder on my body now than it was 10 years ago. I also don't look my age which definitely helps, most guys guess me to be 10 years younger than I am. I feel more confident in myself now than I did in my 20's and it definitely helps with making money. Also, what one of the posters said above as long as you look good then you have nothing to worry about. I was recently working with a woman who is 49 and she had no issues making money and she still looks great.

33 is not old though! Lol... if you’re in your twenties and thirties you’re still considered young. You’re not 18 young but twenties and thirties are still very young compared to mid age.

As long as you're hot and have the potential to still make bank, then it's on you.

One girl I work with is 50 and I thought she was 28. We gasped when we heard her say her age, like wtf
Nice body and pretty face. She's a hustler and makes money too, so she's not wasting her time.

    20s - fun years

    30s - refined years

    40s - BOSS years

    50s - Wisdom years

    All good

I don't think being in your 30s is a big deal. That being said I've worked at places where customers seem to be pedofiles that prefer the 18 year old looking girls that are skinny with literally no curves anywhere and not muscular either just tiny. But those weren't money clubs either. I feel like all the real money clubs have the older career strippers. It just seems that way to me.

Edit: I'm not 30+ just my pov though

I am 36 and was dancing up until a few months ago. I was hustling circles around many of the clueless younger gals, and I think there is a refined grace to someone who has been in their body for a while longer and built true confidence. For me, unfortunately, my body just HURTS and doesn't bounce back from fatigue as well, even though I still look good. So I have stopped for now. If you are looking good and feeling good, make that money!!

I think the most important factor is how you’re taking care of yourself. If you look hot nobody really cares except the pedo guys lol. Women over 30 are sexy as fuck and they’re great conversationalists bc they have life experience. No offense to 19 year olds but I think it can be difficult for older customers to relate to them just because they’re at different stages in life. I’d say almost all the top earners I’ve known have been late 20s to 30s. Go for it!!

Most of the top earners were over 30 when I danced. I stopped dancing full-time when I was 32 and I looked better than when I was 22. It's all about how you take care of yourself.

When I was in my mid 20s I wrote a post here asking how to look more mature! I had just moved to NYC and noticed many high spenders gravitating toward dancers who were somewhat older with a sophisticated look (I have a baby face and can look very girl next door).

I'm 31 now and feeling like I've hit a second wind in my career. If you take care of yourself and avoid long term beauty/fashion ruts, you can easily make money in your 40s if you're still up for the work. Sometimes I feel a little anxious thinking about my age, but the fact remains with some luck I can hope for another 10-15 years.

Coming here put things into perspective for me. Like Vyanka, I've seen a handful of gorgeous, successful dancers making bank up to ~50 years old in this city. And those are just the ones I know about.

I'm 38 and dancing. Planning on stripping as long as I can, at least another 10 years. Dudes think I'm lying when I tell them my real age, and they believe me when I lie and say I'm younger.

Age is a non-issue. What I do have trouble with now are the late nights, so I stick with day- or mid-shifts.

Im 33, going back to dancing after 5 years away. I dont look my age at all, but I do feel less flexible now than I did in my 20s! Hopefully I can get that flexibility back with practice though.

Please. Youth is a commodity that is bestowed indiscriminately upon any little idget with a Wal Mart bra and panty set and a pair of Payless pleb heels. Quite frankly I'm not really worried about the competition from the Tide Pod generation. I'm more concerned with the 40 something MILFS with banging ass bodies and hustles en pointe. They're the ones to watch out for.

Now that's not to say that dancing in your 30s and beyond doesn't bring special considerations. It does. You have to maintain and have a strict diet and exercise regimen. We don't have the luxury of the moronic beauty of youth and a high metabolism. (Well I don't) I look better in my mid 30's than I ever did in my 20s

I am older than a lot of people think I am.. I tell everyone I am 26/27 (and everyone thinks I look amazing for that), and majority of people think I am 21/22. Honestly I do look way younger than a lot of them. So, whatever ya know? As long as you have the tolerance and energy frankly the only people that get to know your age is management. Outside of that, I never tell my real age.

I had some cuntwad give me and another older dancer (and top earner) shit for our ages. "I wouldn't want to be dancing at 40". "Darlin' you may be half my age, but you weigh twice as much as me." She shut up REAL quick. You wanna age shame I can clap back just as hard
