Default Fast Heart Beat, sustained after Shift's Over

    Hi Girls,

So if any of you girls have advice on this, I would appreciate it **so** much! : D

So I work in a fast club here in the southwest...I also have worked in vegas and it's the same result. Basically, It's super duper fast hard core hustling 12-4, then shift's over! The money comes super fast and then the club closes. You're bouncing from guy to guy, trying to get money real fast, saying and doing the right stuff at the right time. During the dances, you paying attention to the guy and trying to ultra-turn-him-on during the end of song 1 so he'll go on to song 2, etc etc.

The thing is, I feel like my heart beats faster when I'm at the club, and even when I'm home after a shift. I don't know how to reduce my heart rate. On the nights that I work I have problems sleeping more than 5-6 hours If I work several nights in a row, i sleep for 4 hours, and wake up. Unless I drug myself with benedryl. The feeling goes away after not working at the club for like two days

I feel like my heart still beats faster the daytime after I've worked the previous night, and it's scaring me.
weed edible helps like 30%, but thats it. Magnesium helps a tad. Tried xanax twice from a friend, didnt work much, I dont do anything else so I dunno.
I dont have any health issues. Maybe I dont do enough cardio?

I work at a loud-fast-music club, so the loud music and having to deal with keeping the guy aroused, etc, it almost gives me mild-sustained anxiety.

I really would like to just go to work, make money, come homes, and sleep a full 8 hours and most importatnly, dont feel my heart beating fast the next day. Like a can't catch my breathe and a super mild pressure on my chest. Think of a hip hop club...

Dont feel it anytime else, even when working out...am convinced it's maybe an anxiety thing form the overstimulation at the club? I dunno?

    Thanks

Maybe you could try yoga? There’s lots of free or low cost videos online if you want something geared towards helping you wind down before bed, personally I found once a week hot yoga to be really helpful. Sorta like what you described but not as severe, I would often wake up the next day with a lot of ‘noise’ in my head still and not having gotten real REM sleep, especially on sundays after a loud busy weekend. For me hot yoga really helped clear that out of my brain so I could get some proper sleep.

You might also try valerian root tea after work before bed. That stuff knocks me right out 30 mins after I drink it! You can get it at most grocery stores but make sure you read the ingredients on the package because there’s a lot of sleepytime teas that don’t contain valerian.

Wear a heart monitor to make sure your heart is in the normal range. If it’s not then go to the doctor.

One thing like you said is it could be a bit of anxiety. So after your shifts you’ll have to do some relaxation exercises (deep breathing, yoga like mentioned above, warm bath, warm tea, soft calm music)

    Do you have thyroid problems?

I'd agree it could be anxiety.

Try 15 minutes of a guided meditation to calm you after this environment.

Also, have a de-stress routine such as counting your money over a good cup of hot tea ( or whatever your equivalent is ). Be mindful and remind yourself ( the $ ! ) why you are tolerating the environment.

I have this too. I don’t have a normal thyroid, I’m going to get tested for Hashimotos disease. I have PMDD. The fast heartbeat happens as soon as I lie down. It’s very scary. It is worse during certain parts of my cycle and I started tracking it so when it happens now, I know it’s consistently during the same times of my cycle so I can rationalize it and it’s not so scary for me. I am a runner, I can run 30-35 miles per week. Sometimes I can feel good on a 7 mile run and sometimes I can’t breathe and I struggle through a 3 mile run even though my body feels fine. I learned also that there is such thing as being asthmatic with ovulation. I would google pmdd, hashimotos, and asthma menstrual cycle. Maybe none of that applies to you. For me, it’s mostly bearable. I had these things happen in combination with some weight gain and haven’t been able to do anything about it—I take a quarter of a pill that’s a generic Xanax and all of these symptoms were “cured” for me with an ssri, which is an anti depressant pill that’s used to treat a lot of things. It made me gain weight so I stopped using it but it’s not like that for everyone. You can message me if you want but I’m going to ask you to text FYI, I hate the messaging system on this site.
