Default Do you have an exit plan?

Hey ladies. I was curious to know if any of you have a plan to stop dancing? Like for me. I need about $30k and I知 done. I plan to pay off my debt and pay for a house. I知 allowing myself 42 shifts to accomplish this and then I知 done for good. I知 grateful that I知 able to dance and make lots of money in a short amount of time but dancing is not the career for me. How about you ladies? Any exit plan?

I think that’s a very good goal for you for 42 shifts and I hope you make it.

I’m not sure why you just joined this page when you are about to stop dancing??

My advice for other dancers is don’t wait until it’s time to exit to start your exit plan. I have a marketing degree and I went to trade school this year, my car is paid off and I have savings. I could stop dancing tomorrow if I wanted. Or, if I have a terrible chainsaw accident and I do not wish to stop dancing but am forced to, I can still stop dancing. I think to prepare ahead of time is the best exit strategy, but I think your plan will do.

I’ve been a member since 2007. I just got locked out of my old profile so I created a new one. Not sure what that had to do with anything. Is it a requirement that you remain an active dancer to be on here?

By the way, I have savings and work for the government, I went back to dancing to pay off debt quickly without having to touch my main source of income.

I came back out of retirement this year to pay off a big ass plumbing bill. I needed 4K which I have made way over that but my bill still isn’t paid off because I kept spending my cash money on dumb shit (mostly food) and also skip shifts when I feel depressed and anxious. Whoops. I’ll be leaving the strip world probably soon since I am getting a group fitness instructor cert soon, although you never know.

I began stripping as an aside to my straight job, not as a full-time thing. I was actually going to hang up my heels last year, but I was convinced to stay on. My straight job pays pretty well, plus I have a 100% disability rating from the Department of Veteran's Affairs (before you ask how, remember that not all scars are physical), plus there's two of us aggressively paying the mortgage off on this house, which stripping does help with that plus we're renting out a room to one of the horseback riding instructors from my straight job.

When I left my home and moved to North Carolina, my first job was at Kohl's, and it really wasn't cutting it. And people sometimes ask why I seem to have a particular attachment to my first two roommates, and it's largely because they really did a lot to help me make it, and I will forever be grateful for that. One of the many things my redneck-ish roommate did for me was help me convert my experience operating farm machinery when I was growing up into operating heavy equipment, which paid substantially more. I also started hitting the books, reading about investment and money management, and that has really paid off for me. I've also built up a pretty varied skill set - I've worked for several years for a road building company in jobs ranging from equipment operator to batch plant operator to lab tech (where I would evaluate tensile strength readings from asphalt core samples and work out what can be done to correct deficiencies in the mix) and could get back into that industry quite easily if I so desired. I have a Class A Commercial Driver's License, I'm an experienced heavy equipment operator, I've been a light/medium tow truck driver. Which is hilarious, because people look at me and tend to assume I'm the sort to work some sort of cushy office job. So I have marketable job skills.

And sometimes we get these 18-, 19-, 20 year-olds who aren't in college and don't really have a plan other than stripping, and we tell them, "You probably won't be able to do this forever, and this club is in Jesusland, so you can't count on the club being here forever, you need to come up with a plan for the future". Sometimes they dismiss it, sometimes they act as if they expect us to make that plan for them, sometimes they take it to heart.

I think a lot go into it maybe without a specific exit plan, but a basic idea of one. I mean, if you're stripping your way through college, you probably intend to let it go once you start a career after graduation. Now it doesn't necessarily mean they've chosen a degree particularly carefully. I mean, a Bachelor's in Liberal Arts doesn't really open that many doors, and they haven't all necessarily chosen their college carefully. We have a dancer who went to Naropa to become a belly dance instructor, just to find out it doesn't pay all that great unless you go into it with the capital to start your own studio and can market it successfully, now she's working on something that'll secure her future better. We don't always make the best decisions when we're 18, after all.

As stated above, this is something which needs to be thought out way the hell before it gets to be the time to actually exit.

My MS in Statistics is my exit plan. I have a 4.0 at a major university so, when I get an internship, I'm going to save up a year of bills and quit dancing.

No but there are a lot of catfish and it looked suspicious to me that someone joined with the intention of leaving dancing behind, that’s all.

That's a lofty goal for 42 shifts, good luck.

My exit plan: I'm currently in med school application cycle #1. If I don't get any love this year, I'll be trying again next cycle. If STILL nothing, I was tossing around the idea of going to Europe and doing a masters there (since their tuition is either free or cheap, and I want to travel/live in another country anyway). If med school happens, I intend to dance 1-2x a week the first year and then retire permanently after that.

Everyone needs an exit plan. There's so few women who have the physical and mental stamina + the financial discipline & know-how to properly retire on dancing money... Plus the industry is not what it used to be when this was more common. There are a couple girls at my club who are over 40 and don't want to be there anymore but have zero savings or education. Scary!

I want to get my massage license, open my own location, and pay off my student loan debt. I would like to learn about real estate investing as well and buy a bunch of properties all over the place and hopefully be able to bring in enough $ from both of those to retire from dancing, escorting, and everything else for good. It's kind of big dreams but I'm hoping to start school next spring.

Yes, at every other club I’ve worked at I would’ve thought the same. But this club I’m at now have awesome clientele that spend consistently. On the worst night (last night) I made $550. So I do think it’s attainable here. I work full time so I can only do one shift per week. So it will still take me almost a year.

I think you’re amazing! I really hope you choose to go overseas. I think that will be the best experience. Best of luck you you love!

I think that getting a bachelors/masters in lucrative field is always a good exit plan. Provided you’ll pay for that degree with your stripping money. That way you’ll be ahead of the game with no student loans and can rip the benefits of high paycheck right away. Other than that, laying groundwork and thinking through a good business plan can be a great exit plan as well, for those who are entrepreneurial.
I’m not an entrepreneurial type, so for me, a degree and if I can manage, savings on top of that is a pretty good plan. I also think investing in good health and disability insurance is a good idea, because you just never know...

Wow! That's a lot for attending hair school for a year. Then again, I pay $2-300 to get my hair done.

I was going to comment the same thing. There'a a cosmetology school near me that's only 10K to attend. Paul Mitchell's school, perhaps?

I was well into to the fitness industry when I began exotic dancing and always thought about a retreat as a PT/coach beside my own career. The exotic dancing went to working in the VIP rooms and it eventually made me feel more like a sex worker than a dancer => so I eventually got out. Miss the fast money, but life is better now. Happily married and I've got my small business coaching Bikini and Figure clients.

Start at community college, which can be paid for with a Pell grant. Do really well. I mean, post 4.0's if you can but at least a 3.5. Join Phi Theta Kappa and any other honor society you qualify for that has scholarships.

Pell grants and scholarships will likely be enough to pay your university tuition, depending on your state. A lot of schools have institutional grants if they don't.

This is exactly how I got a full ride scholarship to a major Research 1 university and how I'm about to be able to have my pick of internships. The only reason I'm dancing right now is because emergencies chewed through my savings. I can be done in January.

Major in something STEM related or in some kind of medicine. Check salaries and job forecasts before you decide. A social science, liberal arts or non STEM major doesn't pay much until you get a PhD, so save that for later. The only exception is a masters in economics or business, but they're crowded fields.

If anyone wants to use education as an exit plan, this is a good way to make that happen.

I'm applying for server jobs starting next week. That's my fastest exit plan from LA type of money dancing. It's not worth the gamble or my time waiting around or the headache of dealing with BS/ being naked for so little for strangers anymore in clubs. Even if I had a high paying regular, I'm just tapped out of dealing with the biz for now. I've got the big things I needed other than paying my house off, the career I wanted since I was busy working non vanilla all the time, and the IRS for last year. At the very least, I need a LONGGGGGG break .

Some girls make more but I'm ready for a long break or to move on.

Goal is to be completely done with stripping by February 2019. I graduate from nursing school with a BSN in May 2019. I will have about $20,000 in debt, which is honestly not that bad. I have friends who are over $200,000 in debt from going to private schools. Hoping to hang up my heels pretty soon

Having 200 k in debt is just ridiculous. Even medical school will not cost you that much if you do it smart way (going in your state being resident, then not going for "big name school". Average school will give you the same result without triple price.)

I just paid for Graphic Design classes, cost me about $2,500 but I figured this is an opportune time where I can make extra money to invest in skills that I can utilize when I no longer dance. Hope its worth it! lol
