It's not going to happen. You'd need a social security number and a state id, not a passport. They're weary about non NY or nj if you're young. They're not friendly to traveling dancers since they do actually have to come and put your ssn and state Id number in some registry and file a tiny bit of papers for you if you do get hired. Unless you're planning to work at least two months. Most places like sapphires, hoops, Rick's , don't even let their girls come in that often since they're overbooked with girls nowadays. I'd try outside of manhatten. Especially winter kind of sucks. I'd try outside of manhatten, better chances especially if you can find somewhere near the airports

    Not true.
A passport is just fine as long as it’s a US passport. And winter is our busiest time of the year. Tell them you’re from out of town but if you like it, you’re considering moving to NYC full time. They will hire you if you’re hot regardless.

You didn’t get hired because you’re 18 and wanted to work just a few days I read in another post of yours. To them, it’s just not worth the liability for someone under 21 for just a few days. That’s why.

I worked at Sapphires 39 for a month, they hire 19+ and have "drinks" they'll give to you so it doesn't seem like you're not drinking. I'm just speaking from seeing women 21+ that I've seen come in and tell that they don't dont hire travellers. I lived on Long Island so it wasn't an issue of me getting there at the time. It's not as much of a liability anymore since they (some not all) put bracelets on the under 21 girls. All I was saying is that it's not easy to work in NYC as a travelling dancer in general. I get what you mean though, the situation for travelling is definitely easier if you're over 21.

Question Re: Working in NYC as a traveling dancer

Okay well thank you everyone !!!! This has been really helpful! I’m 22 btw but I guess like everything else in this industry you won’t know until you try I think I’m definitely going to add what arielbriel said about saying that i’d move to NYC if I like it. I do have a US passport which I thought would be really helpful I just don’t have a SS because I live in Canada lol. Is it just me or is it a bit odd to need my SS if New York doesn’t require a licence and the strip club wont exactly be giving me a pay check?? I guess it just works differently in Canada lol.

Can you say that you just moved and you're in the process of updating your IDs?
