Default Recipes and snacks for touring?

Do any of you bring meal prep for tours? I could easily bring along snacks like nuts, carrots, apples etc but I was also thinking of making some sandwiches for lunches and fajitas for dinner, and keeping them on ice pack on the drive down. Any recipe suggestions would be awesome.

I would just keep snack food in the car and eat at a restaurant once a day. Cheaper than doing meal prep at the hotel (and leaves the incall smelling fresh.)

I think I’ll mostly be doing strip tours for the rest of the winter, I have a hotel booked for February though for a massage tour and their rooms have mini fridges so could easily keep a few days of sandwiches and small snacks.

Do you have a crock pot? Plugs into the wall and you can make meals pretty easily with that. Soups would be good. You can get the veggies pre cut at the store.

Yeah there are mini Crock pots out there you can take on the road. Also hot plates are awesome if you want to cook on the road once in a while.

I used to bring stuff like sandwiches, veggies, fruit, hummus, nuts, cheese, and yes to the mini crockpot idea. That is an excellent idea!

I’d never heard of mini crock pots! That’s actually one reason I don’t like my crockpot is it’s so heavy and awkward to clean.

You can find them online or at discount retailers.

Additional protip- large coolers can double as fridges if you dump a bunch of ice or snow into them.

A good hot meal in a mini crock is oatmeal with apples and cinnamon. The smell won’t mess up the room.

I would meal prep to save money from the cost of touring and put icepacks in my suitcase in a large zip loc bag. Orr I'd bring a cereal box with a bowl and spoon too. TSA probably thought I was crazy Bahaha. I no longer saw the point of locking my suitcase with a TSA approved lock because almost every single time they would go through my bag that was stored under the plane and leave a tsa search notification paper in my suitcase when I landed and lock the suitcase right back up. I have had a frozen ziploc pack of raspberries melt because TSA once again messed with the placement of my things and I rolled out of the airport with a long trail of red liquid all over the airport floor. Looked like I was traveling with a dead body. They stole my spoon once too lol.

Later on it was just easier for me to order all the food I need for a day at once to save on delivery fees and tips on grubhub/seamless/doordash/eat24, store it in my room, spray the room down with a fresh scent and have it delivered. The prices for food at 4-5 star hotels started to add up daily and are ridiculous for each meal. Some even charge like 6 bucks per water bottle which is insane. They even charge a delivery fee and they're downstairs lol. I was saving money having it delivered.

One nice perk of food prepping is you don't have to wait for food to be delivered or leaving the hotel and it really sucks if you have a full schedule and having to have a client wait to come up because you're still waiting for food to be delivered.

I guess each option has it's pro's and cons depending on the length of your tour.

Get crock pot liners! They are life savers.

Here again... had no idea these existed! I always line baking sheets with tin foil to making cleaning up more bearable so I love the idea of crock pot liners.
