    Default Stages with no poles

    Hey ladies,
so the club I want to audition for has no poles whatsoever (Denver is weird) which I’ve been practicing more floor work moves etc. but my issue is the first song. We do stage sets of 3 songs and *ideally* the 2nd song you take off your dress robe cover up whatever and the 3rd song you take off your top (topless only) this club is higher end so I plan on wearing dresses, esp on my audition I want to wear a white dress. any ideas what to do for the 1st song or at least most of it? I don’t want to be on the floor a lot while wearing the dress, so I figured I’d walk around the stage slow and sexy for a couple seconds and then what? Lol. Any ideas would be helpful...links, videos....I’m nervous because I wear 7 in heels and it’s hard for me to balance if I’m not walking or being supported lol so maybe hand movements? Thanks!!

I was told the name of the one which didn’t, but I don’t remember off the top of my head… I have plans to visit a friend who lives in Denver and had inquired about possibly giving the traveling dancer thing a try, and I was given the name of one club which didn’t have poles.

It would hinder me for sure… I’d been doing pole dance for some time before I started stripping, so I lean fairly heavily on it. The thing I have going for me in the absence of pole work is my ability to do contortion poses, but I’ve never made that a focal point of my stage sets, and I think it would be difficult for me to work out a routine which really seemed to fit the vibe of a strip club.

If it were me, the approach I’d probably take to the first song would be to treat it as a teaser, make it seem like I was disrobing, but not follow through for to build anticipation.

I’m not sure if I’d go with a white dress. Partly because I feel like it implies marriage, which might speak to the aspirant “white knights in shining armor”, but might put others off. Also, I’d go for a bolder color for the sake of standing out. But, you know the club and your methodology better than I do, and I’m not trying to question it.

Best of luck with your audition!

I wear a short white dress, it's nice and bright on the floor gets a lot of attention, I earn well in it (both compliments and money)

I have danced in both clubs with poles and without; the Twin Cities are mostly without poles.
I would suggest going to the club as a customer first (typical, but wait there's more) see how the girls are workin it and ask about pitfalls...
The clubs I have worked at sans pole have weird quirks.

Rick's in msp has a fan in the floor; you can stand over it and get a Marilyn Monroe white dresd/supermodel dress effect BUT if you step on the fan grate your shoes get oily and its slippery has hell! Same if the girl before you stepped on it then tracked that oil all over. There are also dance bars and posts you can use to stabilize like a pole on stage. BUT Rick's has you audition on this TINY ASS STAGE shaped like a baby grand piano with a too fat static dirty brass pole. That stage is RARELY used, and you will kick someone standing close enough to tip if you use it.
Rick's in msp also discourages floor work, you could only get away with it when busy.

Other clubs with out poles I've auditioned at (but ran away from because the tour after was fishy af) where like a big long run wavey rectangle with runways off of it and a back wall, with LOTS of space to work with, and the customers sat far away from eachother (early in the night) you spent alot of time walking sexy/covering ground to get tips.tips

Another had small lone rectangle stage with a knee high wall around it, in the middle of the room, which feels kinda exposed, but if you do floor work you disappear from your audience unless they are at the rail. It was like dancing in a box.

I looked at OLD burlesque clips where the dancer didn't use props to see how she milked time taking off clothing in a sexy way and how she covered ground. Not all of it is going to translate, of course you will mix in and modernize it.

    Good luck!

I think looking at burlesque videos is great idea!!! Both using props and not using props...I’m going for the girl next door look, what about a lollipop?

Depends on if your club allows props.
I did a school girl with a ruler back in the day. If you get too neo burlesque it can look jarring
