Duh College Student Finds Man Hiding In Her Closet

I cannot believe what I just read. It's so creepy and not the first time this has happened to this girl.

Here's a tweet with a pic of the guy crouching in her closet. I would have lost my damn mind.

A female student who attends the University of North Carolina at Greensboro was terrified when she believed a ghost was in her off-campus apartment. The faux-poltergeist, however, turned out to be a man who was hiding in her closet — where he helped himself to her clothes.

“I’ve been having pieces of clothes [go] missing. Like shirts and pants,” Maddie, a junior, told Fox 8. She and her roommate also found handprints on the bathroom wall and mirror.

On Saturday, they learned the terrifying truth.

“I just hear rattling in my closet. It sounded like a raccoon in my closet,” Maddie told the outlet. “I’m like, Who’s there? And somebody answers me. He’s like, ‘Oh, my name is Drew.’ I open the door and he’s in there, wearing all of my clothes. My socks. My shoes. And he has a book bag full of my clothes.”

After calling her boyfriend, Maddie waited for help and talked to the man, identified as 30-year-old Andrew Swofford, to distract him.

“He tries on my hat. He goes in the bathroom and looks in the mirror and then is like, ‘You’re really pretty. Can I give you a hug?’” Maddie said. “But he never touched me.”

The women do not know how the man entered the residence. They keep their doors locked, and did not notice any damage.

This is not the first time the two women discovered men inside their home. On December 19, 2018, two men were found inside their living room, at which point they alerted the leasing office at the Summit at the Edge Apartments. An employee confirmed to Fox 8 that they changed the locks to the apartment, but a police report was not filed.

The property management company, Burkely Communities, is going through the details in an attempt to find out how this happened. However, the roommates are planning to leave their apartment after the incident.

“Last night I did not feel safe [so] I slept with my roommate in her bed,” Maddie said. “I can’t stay here. My closet, it stinks. Every time I go in [my room], there’s a bad vibe. I’m just ready to leave.”

Swofford was jailed in Guilford County under a $26,000 bond. He faces 14 felony charges, including larceny and identity theft.

This is not her fault and I'm not blaming her at all but why didn't she call the police instead of her boyfriend? Why wasn't there a police report the first time this happened?

He's an evil Boo Radley lol

edit to add- legit fucked up thing- in movies behavior like this can be a plot point in a Romantic Comedy. In real life it's a crime.

Upon reading this I realize the situation could have ended way worse ...thankfully it did not. & Shitty security at this complex might be partially to blame for the event. Ugh.

Oh my God! That is so creepy! What blows my mind is when the article said that this is not the first time that this happened. What the heck? The apartment management is largely to blame here for not having adequate locks on their windows, not changing door locks, or not having a secure lock on their door. It makes me wonder about the security of that apartment complex. I wonder if the creeps who broke in back in December and the recent creep were residents of the apartment too or did they randomly target these poor women's apartment to break in and why. It seems that they have a problem in their area with creeps who think it's okay to break into women's apartments. Hopefully they do move out and into somewhere safer.

Yes, there was a case not too long ago, the guy hid in the closet overnight..
In the morning, after her friend left, he came out, she struggled w/him but tied her, taped her mouth, cut her hair, & raped/strangled her.

Also, in my area 2 yrs ago, a guy broke in, he wasn't hiding but the lady was asleep, she was raped & strangled also. He lived (was staying) @ her apt complex, & is an upscale area.

    PLEASE, BE CAREFUL LADIES1
    Thank you.

File your own complaint with law enforcement, not with a leasing agent.

If you have an intruder, leave, don't wait for police.

I wonder if these girls are being targeted by some weird group for doxing people?

Style? Looks as though he fell out of the back end of a tall cow.

One of the girls who used to work at the equestrian center also goes to UNC - Greensboro and lives in the same complex. She’s extremely freaked out about it.

I would argue that this is fairly common amongst males except they have never been caught. Meaning, most males at some point in their lives, especially during puberty, have snuck into a friends sisters room, or a friends hot mom's room, and gone through her undergarments.

My mom was a very attractive woman and all my friends thought my mom was hot and even at a young age I knew never to let my friends roam around freely in my house and my mothers room was totally off limits. I set that rule, own mother didn't even have a clue....

If your a woman and some unknown male enters your home it's entirely possible that he could go through your closet to look at your bra or sniff your heels or undergarments. I don't care how professional they are. The plumber, the electrician, the painter, ect might help himself and take a look or even steal an item or two and take it home.

The worse case was that former Colonel in the Canadian Forces Russell Williams. He not only broke into an untold number of homes and stole womens undergarments but he eventually murdered a 2 women.

    Really?

I guess that could be true.

I had a horrible encounter with a guy who was suspected of breaking into a neighbor's house and going through her panty drawer (2 weeks before this break in he showed up at my door and obviously wasn't expecting to see my 6 foot 5 inch boyfriend standing right behind me when I opened the door.) Yes guy was a registered sex offender by the time all this happened.

I'm sure guys do "panty raid" type stunts but a few men cross the line into much scarier/illegal activity.
