Default Employment checks...what do I say?!

    Hey Ladies

I'm quitting camming in Sept and moving into a very vanilla type of job. These types of jobs require all candidates to write a list of previous jobs which will be checked. I can obtain a reference for a vanilla job I did for 3 years prior to camming. I've cammed since 2016 up until now.

I'm a little nervous about what to put here. I want to put down 'Affiliate Marketer' put I have no idea if they will want to check the employer for this? Does an affiliate have contracts that can be checked? Or an employer they would want to call up?

I need something which sounds plausible but difficult to prove if that makes sense...

    Direct selling ..

it's really not that hard I just filed my taxes. as a direct seller.

independent contractor 1099 worker in direct selling. so glad I never have to do this ever again. that was the last thing I said to a job that eventually fired me cause they found my website in 2008

when they hired me. they did not check references when they hired me, only the grave yard shift. talking about me got me fired.

Sorry to sound ignorant Minnie, but can you be a more specific?

I'm just not sure how well 'direct selling' will go with these type of employers. They will probably ask questions such as for what companies etc. Don't I need a contract as a direct seller? I have no problems with filing my taxes as an independent worker, but it's the employment checks that worry me.

    Thanks.

Direct selling is also another name for network marketing, pick amway, Avon, mary kay and ask if you can do a presentation meeting in the lunch hour if they hire you.

Join a company you like the products and be a rep for the tax benefits. if you really want to keep a record you are legit with a company.

just keep ti simple if you really want to apply fot this job.

What about saying you were self-employed and had your own business? i.e. dog sitting, family carer (as mentioned above). I've worked as a model ever since 2007 I think??! So I'd have to just tell whoever I was applying a job for that I worked for myself... white lies is a good way to go. If I had to say I did something fairly normal-ish all these years then I'd say I worked in my Mum's Salon (she does have a salon lol) so she'd be my reference. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

You can totally say affiliated marketing or sales, but I'd only recommend doing so if you're good at Bs-ing and pretending you actually know what you're talking about. If you don't then research, learn key phrases, build a "front" business that looks legit. From my experience, if you say it's just you and you have no boss, they'll usually ask for your business name/ website.
Then again, I also know of people that got jobs way above their qualifications (HS diploma in a graduates level job) because the companies were too lazy to verify.

When I got my first grown up apartment, all the potential landlords wanted to call my employer to verify income. I gave them my best friend's phone number & she vouched for me, saying I worked as a video editor for her production company
