I'm thankful they caught him before anyone was killed.

This shocked me. One of my coolest friends ever is in the CG (career member) and a totally upstanding person. I wonder how this guy even hid his issues from his command.

Well..
Warning: disturbing info to follow"
I read, awhile back about another CG member that raped a child (a baby btw) then urinated on it & filmed it so
Yes, he's now in prison for life no possibility of parole
Obviously, some very sick/disturbed individuals out there, everywhere
ETA: They said the baby screamed & cried, DISGUSTING PIG

Actually, this is pretty scary how fascists hid in plain slight. I am not surprised because this guy is white nationalist and Nazi sympathizer who might have been instructed to hid his beliefs by his leader. Fascists often don't do things alone and might be an cell of them. Many of white nationalist and Neo Nazi groups have many members who work in these types of positions. They are always brag about on their forums but they often plot things on Gab. Doubt that his crew or command knew about his beliefs being this extreme. It's pretty scary but fascists are often hiding in plan sight and many people seem not to know about it. Glad that he was caught but I am sure there's are many more lurking around the trash dump.

Wolves may lurk in every guise / Now as then, 'tis simple truth / Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth.

I knew a lot of Special Forces soldiers with extremely "redneck" world views, but even they knew where to draw the line.
I totally believe some of these people get good at hiding their extremist views, that was apparently a huge part of how Al-Qaida spread so effectively.

My former roommate fought in OEF 1 and OIF 1 and 4. I remember him telling me that a LOT of blind eyes were turned during that time, and one of his own units that he deployed to Iraq with had members of rival "motorcycle clubs" among its membership, he had photos of gang tags he'd seen in Iraq, and even some of the vehicles - military vehicles, not Iraqi vehicles.
One of the orderlies when I was laid up in the hospital would come talk to me daily. She used to be involved with the Latin Kings, and had a boyfriend she'd had a kid with. When he went to prison, she decided she wanted out and didn't want her child getting caught up in that life. She saw the military as her way out. I think a lot of people do, but not all of them are able to break old habits.
This doesn't surprise me at all. The military is largely conservative/right leaning. While POVs such as the one this guy expressed are discouraged and punishable, in an understaffed military, it's not unfathomable that it could've been allowed to slide. The simple fact is, not everyone who joins is the most upright citizen ever to grace the planet, even if the collective conscience of this country seems to try to pretend otherwise.

Oh totally.
Thank you for sharing this BTW. Since 9/11 a LOT of media and people in media/arts have been pressured to NOT rock the boat when it comes to Nationalism or politics (I've noticed enough of my favorite musicians and actors making "read between the lines" statements about this.)
& It is known that the armed services used to be a literal "get out of jail" card offered by courts to first time offenders- a common thing in Vietnam era America was offering the option of going to fight in Vietnam versus being locked up for certain offenses....

That really goes back to Regan. From my understand, he was the first to 'rally behind the troops' in the post-WWII era and the fetishization of Reagan went hand-in-hand with the fetishization of the military.
It was always very confusing for me when I was younger. They had JROTC in high school, which I wanted to partake in, but was forbidden from (the Mennonite thing, y'know?). Then of course there was the strong disposition against militarism in the Mennonite church vs. the fetishization of military members I'd see among the 'English'. So when someone would thank my roommate for his service and his reply was more of a retort - "I didn't do you any favors being over there", or something to that effect - it really baffled me.
Guess it all started to make sense after I got to know the story firsthand.

I don't know if anyone's read the book about Ruby Ridge (ID) but it's interesting.
Scary, but interesting

I knew a guy who knew some of the alt-right Idaho crowd. That movement knows how to talk good game but if they could make it happen the US would be Aryan AF...…
In honesty mental health issues and lack of organizational effort have hampered the neo-Nazi movement in America. Maybe there is a God after all lol...….
