Good!!!!

If you live in New York state, you can contact your state rep. and ask him or her to support this bill.

The comment, "They say the bills are dangerous because they do not differentiate between illegal and consensual sex work" was referring to the FOSTA-SESTA bill passed by the federal government, not the proposed NY state legislation.

This is positive legislation. I hope it passes.

I fully support this. The police and government should be focusing their resources on busting human traffic rings and rescuing the sex slaves they hold as opposed to bothering freely consenting adults.

I support this and hope this spreads like wildfire!!

I don't think it will pass.

The bill is to decriminalize prostitution, specifically.
What effect do ya'll think it'll have on the strip clubs?
Everyone says the prices of prostitution will plummet once it's decriminalized. Yet, prices for some vip dances in strip clubs are as much as 2k+/hr. Will the men stop coming in?

I was told my a good friend of mine that years ago streetwalkers in Chicago and Las Vegas effectively got "get out of jail cheap" citations for solicitation- as long as they paid off fines they were usually left alone.
After interference of conservative/religious types in lawmaking, that changed.
In the US the risk of getting an arrest doing sex work has varied with regional influences/issues.
IMO it will not end strip clubs.

New Yorkers are used to spending so much. Their expenses and expectations won't go away. This WOULD not effect the market, cost or price.
It would be different if it was a low-cost city where there's a lot of low-quality hoes or unsophisticated girls, And being not very smart, staying and traveling there. In that case managers allowing obvious hoes and streetwalkers to work their gentlemen clubs effects the market when you also allow them to have sex with the customers for back alley prices and allow anything on the floor.

I think California will be the first state to do this. But IMO it won't happen anytime soon. There's too much underage trafficking. And too much revenue from arresting prostitutes. The present governor of NY won't let this happen. And he's a very powerful man.

Don’t think it will pass, but I’m glad it’s being presented. Even if effects strip cluns IDGAF. When we protested against laws that would shut our clubs down you know the same politicians that voted to shut our clubs down were in the clubs the next day. Hypocrites!
I doubt that it will pass but that would be a positive step in the direction towards progress if it did. Sex work needs to be decriminalized for consensual sex workers so that the focus of criminalizing sex work can be limited solely to those who are human traffickers, the real criminals.
