I feel the same way about dancing. It's better than most vanilla jobs out there. Able to come out $250-400 a night without effort, at times. Able not to go to work when you don't feel like it, take vacations without someone bitching at you. But over the years, the job is taking a decline due to the economic climate and current trends.

Already looking towards dental hygienist as my exit plan.

I have personal training certification sometimes I worry about it not being real work and the fact it’s still in the service industry and a luxury, but it’s a lot like dancing in that I’m using my body, sales, and most trainers make their own schedule. Also, training is a lot about psychology and being their friend-like dancing.

I’ve thought about being an RN but a still small voices says that’s not for me, but I like the idea of job security.

ill let you know how everything works out.
Listen to your gut, for sure!! Anytime anyone asks me whether I recommend getting into nursing or whether I would do it again, it's a big fat HELL NO. Not until major changes are made in the way this country administers so-called "health care". Nurses and nursing aides bear the brunt and the fallout of the failure of the system to help people prevent worsened disease in the first place, and by the greed of hospitals and insurance companies. You will have financial stability but ONLY if the job doesn't make you so emotionally and physically ill that you cannot work it enough to see the benefit. I currently work as a nurse 2-3 days a month because it's all I can fucking stand.

I've always say to other women around me who's thinking of being a nurse, try being CNA first and see if you like it. Of course, many quit after a week or so. Only know one girl who left dancing and now a nurse. Seen her recently after 2 years of quitting. Only came back to service her big whale.

    This is the scary part.
At my club there are a few old heads, and one who's been in the industry for 17 years.

When I think about other people's experience, this motivates me to get my stuff in order.
I need to finish school, but a bit stuck on what though.

Like many, I too want my job to be a source of happiness, or at least something I don't completely hate and that pays well for a single person.

The stripping industry will only further and further decline, and I know I wouldn't want to be in a situation where all I can do is strip because I didn't plan to get out.

It's like I'm better off just getting a SD instead of stripping while I get my life in ordinance.

I hate my job with a passion, though it's not the cause of my misery. I also hate knowing I am giving up x amount of money, given pro and cons, so I go based on that.

I think it has more to do with the job you have than dancing. If you're not happy, seek other vanilla jobs till you find what you're looking for and pros and cons weighed out. Or stay there. All depends on what you want to do.
I would be a gold digger or on disability to make me happy lol! But I have things to pay for now lol! Therapist acted all shocked when I said I would hate a normal job. Because it is boring!!!

I think for me it’s also the understanding of how dead end this job is... on top of having mean boss and dumb schedule, no benefits and no prospects of bettering my position. Really when I look back, I can’t understand why I even agreed to work there. Lol
As far as finding another job, I just know that I’ll like it for two months and then I’ll grow to hate it. I know because that has always been a pattern with me. Maybe other people are right and I should try something entrepreneurial.

Corporate jobs are horrible. They are so afraid of lawsuits so there are so many rules and red tape. I like dancing because I don’t have to be politically correct in my work place. The freedom and flexibility is priceless.

That’s the thing that really sucks ass is some jobs there will be a horrible manager/supervisor/boss and the only way to get promotions at that company is if the evil manager happens to like you. And to get them to like you you have to do A LOT of ass kissing and boot licking. Even doing that doesn’t guarantee the mf will still pass you up for promotion while using the shit out of you.

Office politics is hell and not everyone wants to/ is good at playing that game.

Yeah I can't do it. Hence I've never had a non-stripping job for more than a few days to a month-ish. Though I don't have it in me to actually quit. My last job they tricked me into quitting after nearly making me disabled and couldn't do the grunt work they wanted me to do any longer because I was in so much pain from doing the grunt work too many hours straight too many times. Jobs are lame.

My honest advice (seeing the direction that stripping has gone in...) take breaks from the club/camming for better opportunities.

I've worked with burn out old dancers for a long time and the common denominator I noticed is they either don't focus long enough to put themselves first or are too lazy/addicted to craft a "day job" career.

Having a sugar daddy relationship isn't the worst thing if you can deal with the guy and the LTR gets you to the next step in life.

I stripped from the ages of 19-27, then quit because I decided I had to get a "real job". No "real job" has ever given me any freedom, happiness, etc. Recently I decided to go back to sex work at 34 and I'm planning to do both camming and porn. I feel so free having made this decision, and wish I had never quit the sex industry. My plan now is to make as much money in sex work as possible before I'm too old to do this anymore. This is a valid career choice, so if its what makes you happy, stick with it! Just make sure to make a savings and exit plan.

Nothing against being a long haul stripper. Maybe you can make some investments? Buy some property? That's something I would like to get into when I have a big enough savings nest.

I would like to add that nursing is not just acute care. You don't have to work in a hospital, you can work with well patients and in preventive care. Nursing is so flexible, you could basically work anywhere. School nursing, cosmetic nursing, blood banks, even Disneyland. But of course, it's not for everyone and requires a lot of intense education.

What's your hobby? Maybe you would try to somehow make money from your hobbies? My uncle is a freelance graphic designer. He has a lot of autonomy and doesn't have a boss reigning over him. He's not rich, but has enough to pay his bills.

I do freelance design as my side hustle: I have a 4 yr university degree and years of work experience outside of that. Lmao, I do NOT suggest going into graphic design hoping for it to be your job security. It's an over saturated field now and your uncle has prob been doing it for decades by this point. My contracted freelance gigs get me enough to just pay rent every month, which is more than a lot of my peers can say. Don't do it!

Honestly a lot of former adult industry workers do well in "edgy" occupations- working at bail bondsman offices, bartending, gruesome nursing specialties and industrial jobs. I enjoy my current occupation because it is something I've always been good at doing (book keeping and dealing with mechanical items.)

The same thing happened to me, except I didn’t stop dancing. I got a business degree, got a job in the field, it was meh. I considered what jobs have things in common with dancing and now I am a hair stylist too.

    Choose your clients
Work harder at times if you want
Work less at times if you want
    Make your own hours
    Take vacation when you want
Also get to write off beauty expenses on taxes and get a lot of stuff for free/less expensive/trade with other beauty pros

Takes about 2 years to make any decent money at it, but same with any job. Good luck

Hair stylists can make great money once they have a solid clientele. One of my relatives is climbing the ladder of hairdressing culture on the West Coast & I'm really proud of her.
