Default ROAR! Frustration with self tanner. Suggestions.

I'm in need of a new self tanner. I've been purchasing the one below but it feels like it is total crap since it washes off after two showers. What is your go to self tanner? Plus it is getting expensive with how small the bottle is for the price. I'm pale white so I'm looking for a super dark tan. Stopped tanning because I'm elderly and turning 30 in a few months lol.

    Ok.
I use L'Oreal Sublime Bronze, hydrating self tan milk, gradual glow, in medium.
I'm light too, it's a gradual one, so it's not super dark, but when I use it, it's only once a week.
I also have Sublime Bronze summer express, it's a wash off body makeup lotion.
It's darker (medium it says on tube) but it's a make up so it must be reapplied.
There's some brand the Hooters girls use, in a white bottle w/orange letters, (said to be very dark) sold on shopping channel, & maybe at Ulta?

It's called Sun Labratories, Walmart, Amazon, Ebay, Target.

Make sure, if you get a reliable seller from the auction sites.
Got a recommendation for this, on here:

https://www.tanceuticals.com/how-it-works/ - interesting, backed by Mayo Clinc, Skin Cancer Foundation, FDA. They also offer a 100% $ back guarantee, to me, impressive. It comes in Ultra Dark too. & lol, used by...The Bachelorettes!

Are you exfoliating before you apply? Can you be more specific about what you don't like about the tanner other than it washing off fast?

I've used some awesome tanner lotions but they tend to be $$$$- pricey b/c they use a lot of expensive emollients/fragrances.

I use Tan Towel wipes and body lotion and it works like a charm! It’s super easy to use and gives me a nice even tan that’s not at all orange. I too am super pale like you and it gives me nice color. If I want to get really dark, I’ll just go in for a spray tan

You also have to be careful about soaps your using after applying. I only use dove wash after. Strong soaps can strip the tan. I always moisturize too.

It just washed off so fast. No exfoliating. I used to own my own self spray machine back in high end ho day days with norvell amber sun spray but was told my normal bed tan was better looking due to it looking like crap after a few days. In patches.

frustrated with tanner too they always look patchy/spotty. and I stink after using them. I honestly prefer sally Hansen, but that one is so messy.

I like San Tropez tanning products and Sally Hansen airbrush legs. Things like exfoliating prior and staying moisturized can help extend the tan but I find all self-tanners to wear off pretty quickly, especially if you take lots of showers. If I get a professional spray tan it usually lasts up to a week.

    Are they THAT bad smelling??

The L'OREAL one is fine, the 1st one I mentioned.
I think the other L'OREAL one is too, I haven't used it lately.

Following because I have always had trouble with self-tanner.

I like the Jergens gradual brand but my problem is largely with trying to fill in tan lines and making everything look seamless, particularly around ankles/feet and neck. I feel like even if the rest of my body looks okay, you can totally tell it's from a bottle just by looking at those spots.

I have used jergens wet skin moisturizer and it gave me a pretty color. It’s really cheap so definitely worth a try but I’m trying to find something that gets me as dark as a spray tan does. Jergens does not but does give a healthy glow instead of pale white.

I guess it’s worth mentioning that I’m wearing the jergens wet skin moisturizer in my avatar pic lol.
