I actually started one over because of some family moving out of the area and best way to keep track of them with photos daily. But noticed a lot of friends aren't on it anymore.

Yeah i find facebook has basically become a place to share pics to older relatives, and also secret groups. Most people i went to school with etc are no longer very active if at all

yea reazling that. I started all over thinking I'd have many friends haha. now hardly anybody on there.

I still use mine mainly for messenger. I dont know why honestly, it just drifted to using that instead of texting.
Most people don't seem to actually type posts anymore about themselves, it's a lot of sharing of picture posts/memes and arguing in comment sections.
If my account were to get deleted I don't think I would bother making another.
"People jack off with the left hand and point with the right."
"You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

Instagram. Don't use it but my niece is always on Instagram and said to me that Facebook is for old people.

It's not popular among young millennials and gen z who seem to prefer apps like Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, but it still looks to be quite popular among older millennials, gen x, and baby boomers. Almost all of my family, especially older relatives, use Facebook on a daily basis. I'm not active as far as posting photos and status updates, and I've gone through periods of deactivating my account but there are several groups I'm a member of and enjoy reading/occasionally posting in.

I deleted mine last year and dont miss it one bit. Instagram is next...
Many people still use it, but its no loss without it IMO

I'm on it for the secret groups.

I use it for messenger because it is a cheap and easy way to keep in contact with several friends who have moved overseas. Also some people I know still use it for organising large events, so it is nice to be able to get those invites. However, I've stopped posting updates on there a while ago, I figure people don't need to know every little thing I'm doing. Pretty much everyone I know who uses it though is over 30, so it seems the next generation is using other platforms.
There's too much drama on facebook. I never deleted mine and just use to to browse local shows and local news (since I have no TV at all and don't have news outside of social media and google) I have another one for my kids which is literately just posting their pictures for family. I could never browse the feed it just makes me realize how much I hate all the people I'm supposedly related too.
But with their's it lets it so even the aunt way out in Washington that we see maybe once a decade can still watch her great-nephews grow up.

I deleted my account a long time ago, when IG(which I never bothered to create either) was starting out. Shit gets addicting. Anyway, I'll look at my mom's FB page if I wanna see how my family is doing. Other than that, I think it's just a big time waster. I don't have IG, it's sort of like the same shit. I'm just so damn anti-social.
Now Twitter(Old I know)I have to follw up on news events( since I don't have time to watch tv)and other shit I give a fuck about without having to follow anyone.

Here's a scary thought- during the 2008 Great Recession a lot of companies got a reminder of the importance of targeted advertising/data mining. Also they could already see from Myspace that social media was a huge tool for product promotion.
It was inevitable that FB was going to get turned into a vehicle for ad revenue and selling. PLUS people giving away personal info...too sweet for them. (Daniel Tosh pointed this out in a comedy routine years ago, that no one needed to work for someone's private info if they would actually just post it up for free on social media.)
Aside from that, FB is handy for saving time and money IF you know how to avoid the pitfalls pushed by the service.

FB has turned into a political fiasco mostly, although the business side still seems to be somewhat unscathed from the casual
I am convinced that fakebook is for dramatic relatives of the older generation who like to publicly broadcast family issues, people of any age who like to pretend to be super successful and important, and unhappily married exes who want to try to "relive the old times", attempting to make contact with you through there. I reactivate twice a year and it seems to still be true. Deactivated again.

I have an account I use to snoop on ex's and compare myself to their girlfriends.
I deleted my facebook last year & don't regret it![]()

FB has a couple features that I wish Twitter would incorporate, like secret groups and bookmarking threads.
I was going to add the use of real names, but people seem to be dicks regardless.

Well after today I'd say yeah. The outtage and glitches made the news.

Oh, and I really hate FB's "laughing" icon.
It looks like a bully.

Is it a good idea for sugaring?
Not sugaring sugaring but lets say you wanted to catch the attention of an old fling that's doing better in life....

In that scenario, absolutely. People are always curious to know about exes and how "the one who got away" is doing in life after many years. Facebook is notorious for causing friction in marriages and relationships because of how easy it is to get ahold of your high school sweetheart, your wild summer romance from 20 years ago, etc. It reopens a door that otherwise would have been permanently shut.
