Default What made you decide to start working in the club?

What was it that got you guys started working in the clubs? Whether it be a bartender, server or a dancer.

For me, being 19 years old, too young to legally drink, working as a server was a great way for guys to buy me drinks.

Even though I didn't start dancing right off the bat, it was the money that could be made that got me to start dancing.

Was 18, in high school. Had an older friend who was a dancer and she showed me the money she made in two weekend nights, her collection of expensive items like jewelry and clothing and the economical freedom that she had. So, I jumped in. Though, at first, I had a hard time adjusting to the groping and titty-grabbing from strange men but quickly got used to it.

There's always something to give to get a capital gain.

Call it a perfect storm. When I left my Mennonite family to strike out on my own and move to North Carolina, my roommates had a couple friends who worked as strippers. Well, they actually seemed like not horrible people, and it was a bit of a curiosity for me how they could be so bold to do something like that (remember, I was raised in a deeply religious and insular community). They didn't get me to start stripping, but I did start taking pole dance classes (and yoga shortly afterwards). Maybe that was a catalyst, I don't really know.

I suppose it was a mixture of 'life after death' and economic reasons which ultimately led me to go for it. I deployed to Afghanistan. My vehicle was hit with an IED. I bled almost to death, actually went under twice while they were trying to save me, spent a bit of time in a coma afterwards.... would you take my word for it if I were to tell you it wasn't a particularly fantastic experience? I really hate saying this, but it's almost unfortunate that they succeeded... the most difficult thing I've ever done in my life was accept that I was going to die and find a bit of peace with it. What's more terrifying than the prospect of dying itself is the prospect of having to do that a second time.

Anyways, I got back, I had my downward spiral, the person closest to me and who I leaned on the most moved to Colorado (which, that plan was already in place before what had happened to me in A-Stan), I felt abandoned (which, in retrospect, I suppose I really had no right to), I went into a depressive spiral which was only compounded by the fact that they wouldn't send me back, because I REALLY wanted retribution, and at that point, I was willing to pay any price to have it. Little by little, I learned to cope, though it's not to say that I'm not still weighed down to some extent by the stings I carry. But I'm doing better these days, and when I finally came out of it, I decided I wanted to be the me I felt I could be but had always been too timid to be. Stripping wasn't what came to mind right away, but it fell into place logically. The final push was the Winter season. I worked for a road construction company as a heavy equipment operator. During the Winter months, things go dead, and you go into seasonal layoffs, you receive wage attached unemployment... ideally, you hope to work about 20 hours/week if you can, in order to cover your benefits and such, but this isn't the ideal world in any way, shape, or form. And what made it worse was the BOREDOM. I did plenty to occupy my time, but I didn't feel in any way productive. One of my friends suggested I audition at her club. I laughed it off for a moment before I realized she was serious. Somehow, I ended up mustering the nerve to do it. And here we are now.

I started doing it on the side during school. Did it for about a week, but I was in Orlando, club-hopping along OBT trying to find a place to work that was both safe and profitable. I struck out on both counts and so shelved the idea for awhile. The stars aligned more favourably for me to try again a few years later, and a coworker told me about StripperWeb

I was making great money at a job I absolutely did not care for and spent 60+ hours a week doing. My ex was the first person who ever took me to a club when I was 28 and we were still dating. He was friends with dancers and he would always tell me Hey, you’re pretty and fun and great with people and you hate your job—why don’t you dance? I brushed it off til after we broke up and was at one of my lowest low points. I just felt like I was going through the motions, working as much as I could as a distraction and sleeping the rest of the time. I realized I didn’t have it in me to give what it would take to get to the next level at my job. I gave them two months noticed and I danced three days a week for the last month and fell in love with it. Coming up on my one year anniversary really soon. My mind is totally blown by how much I love my life now in contrast to a year ago. I know it’s not a forever job but I hope to do it for at least 4 more years and set myself up for what’s next. My only regret is not realizing it was an option when I was younger! I have so much more confidence in myself and what I’m capable of and I credit dancing with a lot of that.

I've always loved showing off. If it wasn't for my dad finding out I'd be one of the most commonly known pornstars of all time, I'd make Sasha Grey look like an amateur, I'd love to do it.

When I was 17 I had a boyfriend who wanted to see what its like in the strip clubs. We went to three local strip clubs, then a few in Prague. I actually loved it, some of the girls I could tell were in it purely for the money who couldn't understand why I wanted to get into it.
I'd love to get into it all professionally but I fear that I'd get into it that well of being among the very best in the industry that my dad would eventually find out about other things. My mum was a stripper back in her day, they both know I strip only my mum knows I escort and I think it would destroy my dad if he knew that. I know he watches porn sometimes so I couldn't do porn / camwork etc.

I loved to dance, SOOOooo much. It's all I wanted to do. I even asked to go to school to learn, even though it was late (16 years old) and my folks told me, there's no way, professional dancers start much younger (think ballet), I could never make a living at it and therefore no, they weren't paying for art/dance school. Being a restless independent teen who's parents were really cramping my style, I decided I needed a way to move out asap. A boyfriend of mine told me I was pretty enough to be a stripper, when I was 18ish. I have always been sex positive, body positive. I figured, Oh my god, I can get payed to do what I LOVE, which is dance, and make enough money to move out. So I auditioned at the local peep show, and the rest is history. That place closed down, so eventually I had to learn that peep show dancing and club dancing are VERY different. It was a rough transition and it's been very off and on, but thanks to Stripperweb, I managed to figure out sales and hustling, even as a hardcore introvert. I got a bachelors in a healthcare field and worked as a nurse for 9 years, and fucking HAAAATED it. Now I am back in school for something else, still dancing part time, all these years later. It's my favorite job I have ever had and I will be sad when my knees and back make me quit eventually

I had considered it for a while—ever since I was nineteen or so. At first not seriously—as I was going to school and had my mind on being an actuary. And there was a level of lack of self confidence that I could do it. Then I went to a club with my at-the-time boyfriend and his friend. It kicked off my interest because I noticed how quickly money disappeared lol. Though the boyfriend shot down that idea because stripping is wrong and blah blah (like wtf were we and you at other times in your life doing there then?)

Fast forward two years, and feeling more existential because I didn’t know if I didn’t want to be an actuary after all anyways. Maybe I can be a teacher? Didn’t excite me either. It was at that time, I purchased the Damcerwealth course and went through the lessons.

One year later, my friend was dancing at a club in San Antonio. When I left school, I went to that club with her. Didn’t stick around there—since it was a small club where drama always happened. But unlike most of the rest of Texas, the bouncers here were present and would correct customers for floor dances and stick up for dancers. It was a great starter club environment.

    Survival. Pure and simple.

To pay my lawyer and leave my abusive ex husband and pay off the debt from the marriage so I’d never see his sorry ass again. As much as people say they love teachers and save the children unfortunately it doesn’t pay shit. I’d rather grind on a thousand...millions of cocks than be with that abusive sack of shit-he was a millionaire. Not worth it! I’m grateful every damn day to not have to have a man.

Money. Moneaaayyyyyyy led me to the strip bar.

Hilariously I was so young and naïve when I started I didn't realize my first home club was a biker club affiliated bar, and I didn't realize I had bumped into one of my favorite musicians one night at the club....I was too obsessed with finding people to shove cash in my underwear.

I've told the full story before but basically the Cliffsnotes version: I was broke and in a financial rut I felt like there was no way out of, I was heartbroken, I was suffering some pretty bad PTSD. My back was against the wall and I felt I had nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Life could only get better at that point. So I gave it a try and soon enough my whole life changed. Dancing really saved me in a lot of ways. There have been some pitfalls too but the good outweighs the bad by far.

I worked at Hooters for a long time, until business got really slow and girls started leaving to cocktail waitress at the strip club. I was bartending so it took a little longer before my money started slowing down too, so I followed suit and started bartending at the strip club. I spent about a year getting to know customers and listening to the strippers hustle them, I paid attention to what worked, what didn't and learned so much from them. I started stripping when I moved to a new city after that and while my stage dancing is still pretty lame after a year, my conversation hustle to the VIP is on point!

I have disabilities and living with my abusive parents I was unable to make any progress whatsoever on becoming a functional adult. I barely graduated highschool with my hand being held and college was a bust, other jobs didn't last very long because none I could find would be a good fit. I tried so hard to work through everything but most days my pain and energy levels just wouldn't let it happen.. I had parents that were not only narcissistic abusers in every textbook definition of the word but shamed me for trying to get help. So it was sex work or living a miserable, sick, helpless life with my parents. I do enjoy the job and the benefits though! Thanks to dancing I can live comfortably even with my illnesses. I now live far away from my "parents" and am working on my health. Then I'll try to transition to a longterm job saving as much as I can in the meantime

I should have strip when I was 16/17 if I knew about it before.

My story is that I had always been interested in stripping since I was young. It was just a fantasy though, nothing serious. Well when I first became an adult and realized college was not for me and neither was ‘’normal’’ jobs (which I had given a try also), I started seriously considering it. I used to go to strip clubs with my boyfriend at the time and I absolutely loved it. I knew it was something I would enjoy...but I still didn’t have the guts to do it! It wasn’t until I just turned 20 and I was really down on my luck, trying to escape an abusive relationship, and pay rent on my own, that I pushed myself into it. I’m really glad I had waited a year before getting into it because during that time I took pole dance lessons and read a lot of books about stripping, so I was more prepared. I ended up doing great, got away from my abusive ex boyfriend, and paid off the rest of my lease, and here I am almost 9 years later and I’m still gettin’ that money!

    Cliffnotes version...

I didn't need any money. But, i sure did WANT money. I started at 18 in college. To this day, I've never had a single drink at work, and i've still never smoked anything in my life. I just wanted a part-time job where i could make serious, fast money, and could schedule that around my classes. I was a virgin for the first year and a half that i was dancing.

So basically, i was (and am) a total square who wanted to take advantage of the industry. And, i did.

Woah! Virgin drinks with code names or just outright refusing with customers?

That’s pretty admirable tbh. I drink but make sure I’m not buzzed at the end of a shift.

I would refuse drinks and order waters or juice. Tbh, i think it made things much harder on me. I should've ordered virgin drinks under a code name. But i hated the idea of customers spending money on a drink for me instead of a dance. Ugh! Later in my career, I'd agree to let customers buy a drink for me, and then I'd use all kinds of tricks to make it seem like i was drinking when i wasn't.
