    Default Neck problems

Knees, low back -it was discussed here before. I have similar neck problem -it cracks, and hurts, and stiff -especially after working in hills. I'd appreciate any suggestions/recommendations for dealing with this issue.

    In hills??
You know, I have neck issues as well, sometimes back but mostly my neck..
I do self message, 'excercise' (rotate my neck, bend it up & down)
I use Arnica cream, I see it at some drugstores, they also have tiny pills (you dissolve on your tongue) those you would get from a health store.

    I sleep w/a special pillow, I got from nursejamie.com (I'm sure there's cheaper versions) it's satin, & kinda curved.
    That's about it, really.

Yoga. I just turned 30, and if i go without yoga for even a week, i get all of these aches and pains... my joints feel compacted, etc.

I do hot yoga. And it's important to go for walks in normal shoes when you spend a lot of work time in heels (i love minimalist shoes, personally). Turmeric helps with joints (naturewise has a nice product, as does Amazon brand). Calcium and vitamin d for bones and joints.

I also noticed that how i sleep has an effect on my neck... which it didn't when i was 18.

Lots of us are pretty tense when we're working in clubs, and i always threw my head around a fair amount (sexy, slow hair flips on stage), so it's no surprise that that kind of thing results in a bit of pain.

Is there a specific name for the type of yoga you do? I've been wanting to try yoga, but there are so many different types I don't know where to start? I want to try it even more after hearing that it helps your aches and pains.

Thank you, ladies, for all the replies!
Yes, it has a lot to do with age and physical routine. I do Yoga occasionally, and it helps a lot with my knees/lower bac, but I couldn't do much for the neck. Maybe should look for specific asanas.

I do heated vinyasa - it unites breath with movement. I love the heat, personally, but it isn't for everyone. And different people prefer different styles of yoga. Every studio has a different vibe, too. Take advantage of 30- day introductory offers to try out studios until you find one you like!

    Have you tried heat?
I take a wash cloth, run under hot water, wring out & apply.
I used to have an on-site sauna, that was awesome!

Oh, and this thing is pretty bomb! It looks so lame, but once you get the hang of it, it's awesome. I've been using it frequently for over a year.

Yin yoga or gentle yoga. If you find a good teacher, it's amazing.

I second this. Check out yoga with adriene on youtube, she has a video just for neck pain! It helps me so much. All of her videos are amazing. I love that woman!
