Default Powering thru a long shift. Tips + motivation

I've worked double shifts and open to close shifts at different clubs, in vanilla jobs I've clocked out at midnight and clocked back in at 5:30am that morning.... so here's my advice to anyone hoping to binge work or just put in more hours

    - Meals and bar food can leave you feeling lethargic and greasy/weighed down (if that makes sense lol). Instead of meals, bring light snacks to munch on that will give you energy. Trail mix, nuts, dark chocolate, applesauce/fruit cups, protein bars, jerky, fruit (bananas), cookies (in small portions), protein/health shakes, peanut butter. If you must have a meal, make it light and lean, and pack it from home. Salads, grilled chicken, soups, sandwiches, etc

    - Caffeine, if you can consume it, will be your best friend. Coffee (in a thermal/insulated mug to keep hot or cold), Red bull, energy drinks etc. Tea also works.

    - WATER!! I am awful at drinking adequate amounts of water, but it will help you so much. Especially if you're downing sugar and caffeine. I try to get at least 1 glass down every 2 hours.

    - If you drink, pace yourself, and try not to drink early in your shift.

    - Breaks. Do take them! Tbh I'm the kind of person that can't do long breaks. Some people need 15, 30, 60 min long breaks... I can't do that personally or my "hustle mode" gets switched off and turns into "I don't wanna go back out" mode So I take 5-10 min breaks. But make sure you take them! And distract yourself so you're not focused on DR chatter. Bring a book or headphones or focus on your phone. If you can step outside and get fresh air, that helps as well

    - Keep your head up! Stay semi-active at all times so you don't slow down. Words of affirmation to yourself throughout the night! Stay positive and sure of yourself!

    - If you feel unmotivated throughout the night, count your money. Use it as a motivator. "Hell yeah I made $x so far, I can keep pushing for more!" or "I have x hours left to reach my goal of $x, I can do that and then some, easy peasy!" Alternatively, "I have x hours left in my shift to make as much money as I can, if I get VIPs/tons of dances, that will be over in no time!"

    - Try your best to feel clean & fresh throughout the night, as if you just stepped out of DR. Use baby wipes, reapply perfume/body spray, touch up your makeup, fix your hair, maybe switch your outfit (or at least your panties) if you really want to. If it won't ruin your makeup, splash face with cold water.

    - If your shift didn't end up like you hoped, don't let it discourage you. We all have bad days, even when we work hard. Refresh and recharge once you're home, care for yourself, & plan for your next long shift.

& stuff I bring during a longer shift:
    - Baby wipes (I bring these anyway but they're a lifesaver)
    - Eye drops (refreshes eyes)
    - Spare outfit, thongs
    - Spare shoes
    - Bandaids (for foot blisters)
    - Bathrobe & slippers (for my quick breaks, for sore feet & I get cold easily, helpful if you want to step outside and it's chilly)
    - Safety pins

Feel free to add your own! Post about your long shifts as well, cheer, vent or whatelse... we can do this!!

    Awesome tips!

My biggest tip for any length of shift is to *not* count your money until your shift is over! If i count my money and it's low, then that gets me down and makes me want to leave. If i count my money and it's high, then that makes me want to leave, too (since i've already made plenty). Just focus on getting more cash into that purse and worry about how much there is when you're done!

    Also, avoid checking the time...

And to keep your morale up, pay your tipouts as early as possible in your shift (if you can...i know every club does tipouts differently) so that you know that every $ you earn moving forward into your shift is yours to keep! It's like ripping off a bandaid.
