How safe is it to use an emailed amazon gift card from a customer?
I dont want to use the card, and then have the guy find out my mailing address, my amazon account username, my real name, or any other sensitive info.

I've never had an issue with it. I have a cam email that guys can send me a gift card to, then I use the gift card code with my regular Amazon account. I contacted Amazon support about it once and they told me that the people who send the gift card don't see any additional account information.
When you copy and paste the gift card code, Amazon often prompts you to send a thank you note. Don't do that, as it will show the name from your regular account.

I've never had a problem...except when one guy used the Amazon in his country rather than the link I sent him...you can't use a gift card from another country's amazon. Send him a link and tell him not to leave a message in the box, in case Amazon monitor those. Also, I believe they can't cancel the card once you've spent some of it, so have some items in your basket ready to go.

I've never had an issue. However, I generally don't take it as payment, only as a gift (the only exceptions being when trusted long term regulars are unable to use another method for whatever reason), and I do the same as anonamiss. I have him send the gift card to my cam email, and then I copy the code and use it with my real Amazon account. I got paranoid about accidentally "thanking" someone so I changed my Amazon name to my initials, and the email address connected to the account doesn't have my real name either.
In terms of using them as payment they have recently started showing up in email 12 hours after being purchased so it might not always be instantly received. Hopefully this saves you and others some frustration.

If you are really paranoid you can just have the guy buy the amazon gift card for himself and then send you a screen shot of it. I have done this with new guys. Just be sure to add it to your amazon account right away because once its been added to an account it cannot be transferred or used by anyone else.
I do believe they can cancel the gift card though, even if things have been purchased on it they can cancel it and you will be left owing amazon money but Im not 100% sure about this cause it has never happened to me and that would be true for them purchasing it for you or for themselves

You may want to setup a cam email account on amazon, as I am pretty sure they can see the email address associated with the account that has redeemed the gift card. I can not honestly remember where I discovered this - but if it helps, you can use your amazon funds to buy OTHER giftcards. I send myself whole foods, Ulta, krispy kreme, outback, olive garden, ect giftcards to my personal email and they always show up almost instantly. I seriously LOVE it.
Amazon giftcards can't pay the bills, no, but it can buy you groceries, coffee, and a haircut. and you keep 100%

do you ladies put a minimum on the amount ? this seems like a PAIN IN THE ASS for smaller amounts
You can use an Amazon giftcard to buy those visa giftcards too which may be a pain in the ass but if you owe somebody money or need to pay a bill, it might work in a pinch

They cannot see your email address associated with your Amazon account. Just give them your work email to use for delivery of the code.

^^ yep. Took this right from amazon.com
Limitations.
Your Amazon.com Balance cannot be used to purchase other Gift Cards, prepaid open loop cards, or certain third-party gift cards.
I was thinking this wasnt allowed as well because years ago they really cracked down on their gift cards on account of people using them as currency but I wasnt sure about buying other gift cards cause in Europe they dont offer GC to other businesses on their sites. Its strictly an American thing but I looked it up and it clearly says in the first sentence that it is not allowed.
Well damn, that must be new. If that wording is correct, then you can't buy any gift cards with a gift card anymore???

^^ Honestly I think its been around for years. I dont think its a new policy at all. When was the last time you used a GC to purchase a GC?? They did away with it a long time ago cause of legal issues from what I remember.
Like a month or two ago, I used an Amazon GC to buy an e-mail delivery iTunes GC and I used to buy Netflix ones. Maybe it's different for physical gift cards and digital code ones?
I just added a $25 visa gift card to my cart and it has an option for adding a gift card or promo code? Idk

^^ Okay so reading it again I THINK I get what is going on. When they say cannot be used to purchase other GC they mean Amazon GC and then its says CERTAIN third party GC which mean that some third party GC, like the visa one you just mentioned, would be allowed. So i take it back it looks like you maybe can use it to buy CERTAIN other GC which is great news!!

I buy gift cards from amazon regularly. If they are sold by API - amazon payments, inc. you are most certainly able to purchase them with your amazon balance and a lot have e-mail delivery. I CAN NOT however use it to buy the visa, mastercard or other amazon gift cards. I just tried and it gives a little statement when you get to payment method.
I accept as little as $10 and it all just goes into my amazon balance. it's quick and easy, I make 100%, I can earn money back on amazon purchases I make, meaning I'm actually earning MORE. I think I just made almost $2 cash back on my new clarisonic head and a dress for a clip.
