Default Microneedling at home vs spa?

    Hey all!
Looking to try microneedling. I am on a student budget. Anyone have recommendations or experience doing so at home? Favorite tools?

Or is it worth it to get it done by a pro?

I have pitted acne scars, less tightness and tone than in the past (in am 37...) and some fine lines.

    Thanks!

Hey babe. On a budget? I have the dermapen I bought it off Groupon. Make sure you buy it from a reputable dealer since there’s many knock offs and I wouldn’t want to needle my face with something cheap and cause long term damage. I did the dermapen. I didn’t see much improvement, but it also didn’t hurt anything. All in all I like injections and more surgery as oppose to treatments because I can actually see a difference-that’s just me though.

In my personal opinion, there’s no way to completely get rid of scars, so don’t I wouldn’t throw my money away trying to get perfect skin. Honestly, I’ve had a lot of work done on my face. It’s a combination of treatments for the best results. I’ve heard doctors say they like to try multiple treatments: fraxel, peels, and etc. The beauty angel might help at planet fitness-it’s helped my skin and it’s cheap. I wouldn’t spend a whole bunch of money on BS. I’ve wasted thousands get hustled by “medical spas” and they will promise the moon and the stars and the results are mediocre at best. Realself is a great tool.

Definitely see a reputable dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. He/she will suggest a series of treatments and/or fillers/tretinoin products.

I will come back later to expand on this but I'm a fan of doing this at home - it is fine, as long as you research the rollers and techniques properly beforehand. Having said that, to get results on scars and stretchmarks a deeper treatment is needed and the deeper you roll, the higher the risk for complications.

I'm going to look into this, again.
I know the site nursejamie.com has one, I have her face roller, & satin sleep pillow

    Does it hurt @ all?

^ It hurts a bit, depending on whether you roll deeply or aggressively. I used to use numbing cream before rolling which helps to an extent.

I'm doing Vivace at a popular dermatologist and I see a difference. Don't do med spas when you're ready to shell out the money. I had a bad experience with one. A reputable dermatologist is worth the money all the way if you find the right one. Google Vivace. You need 3 treatments the minimum.

I have a dermaroller at home and it's no where near as good as the machine from the dermatologist.

Thanks all! I just finished my second round of Sculptra which we ended up starting with due to my cheek hollows. She also suggested a form of radio frequency microneedling so I will look up and compare that with the Vivace. The Sculptra is pretty awesome. She had to add a bit more to one cheek and we will see how it develops, but the other cheek is so awesome, no more sunken hollows. Now I can be slender/fit/athletic late 30's and not look gaunt, yay!

The cool thing is while she was doing the Sculptra injections, she was able to at the same time do some acne scar subscision; the same needle used to deliver the filler was also breaking up those deep scar tissue tethers on the deepest pitted acne scars on my cheeks.

I think for the results I am looking for I will try the radiofrequency microneedling. I don't think home sessions will go deep enough for me and honestly I probably wouldn't do it often enough

    That's what the Vivace is.
