Default Legalities behind going "off site"

    Hey,

So far in my career as a cam model/clip maker I've always stuck to making clips & selling them on platforms & camming on platforms.

I've always avoided doing Skype shows or Kik sessions because I worry & lack legal knowledge in the event of the customer being under age,
I know many of you take payment through the platforms for these services but does that protect us legally if that person was under 18?

We could ask them but people can lie. Guys in the UK for example can easily have debit payment cards at 16 years old.

So question being, where does the law stand in the event of this? Are we liable despite the customer paying on a 18+ site if we then take them to Skype?

You have to get legal advice for it.

or just stick with working on the websites.

Visa debit cards are pretty much almost global now.

in order to ensure you are protected it would be best to consult with a lawyer. accept only credit cards (not visa/mc gift cards - ive been on sites that will not take them) or payment processors that require people to be 18. Youd also probably have to do like the porn sites and make it clear that its adult content they are about to view and provide the option to leave or agree they are over 18. Also review or have a lawyer review with you - the TOS for KiK and Skype

The simple answer is yes. Yes you are legally liable.

Now how do you expect to collect payment? Because it is also illegal to collect payment for adult shows through most payment systems! Its illegal from all ends so either you get an account with a high risk payment processor in which case they will verify the client is over 18 or you just go through one of the platforms to collect payment, like MV or MC.

I dont think you have thought this through properly.
