You do not need a real estate license to be an appraiser. You need an appraisal license.
You start with an appraisal trainee license.
You might be able to find an appraiser who will let you start work without even a trainee license. You will be doing research and math and writing things. You can go online and take the classes to get your trainees license. After you get the trainee license, the hours you are working will count toward the appraisal license.
