Default Aussies Don't Sugar-Coat The Purpose Of Sugaring!

This kept popping up in the suggestions, so I figured I was meant to watch it. It's 60 Minutes Australia feature on Sugaring.

Unlike in the U.S., they get right to the point: Sugar dates can and often do involve sexual activity. In the States, they're all like, "Oh no!!!! We never EVER have sexy time. It's just a generous friendship."

Any Aussie girls want to chime in? Is sex work legal over there? Also...while sugaring is often promoted for college/university girls, is there a market for mature women who might want to get with a 60 year old dude? Mature as in I'm in my 40s. I'd still be younger than him. I can pass for early 30s in my face, I've been told.

That's what I was asking: Is it legal over there?

To the best of my knowledge, it is.

I read an article about a married guy w/kids, one of the kids was special needs.

    He escorted for that reason.
Maybe some of the Aus chics will chime in, I think a lot of 'em are gone off the site tho.

In AUS prostitution is legal - in some areas brothels are not, but all areas allow independents.

"Unlike in the U.S., they get right to the point: Sugar dates can and often do involve sexual activity. In the States, they're all like, "Oh no!!!! We never EVER have sexy time. It's just a generous friendship."

Just so you know we've debated this point frequently and the consensus is that about 10% of USA sugaring is "platonic" and 90% is sexual. Non-sexual sugar is also, to hear pinks tell it, quite difficult to mine and maintain. Thus if you stick to your guns and bring your A game, you can make it work, but to paraphrase one frequent poster, "If I had it to do all over again, I'd do sexual SB because it is just easier".

I think it's legal over there ( probably supposed to be registered or something but not the risk like the USA ).

+1 , 90% of time SD / SB means sexual and for discretion / low risk talking about it gets reported as " non-sexual " ( reasons seem fairly obvious ).

Well its possible to not have sex and still get money, but perhaps like mentioned above the stigma/illegality prevents people from keeping things 100% honest right out the gate (if ever)

Sex and money are classic exchanges of power. Men wield financial power, and women wield sexual power. It's naive to believe otherwise.

After all, aren't we all in the business of using our sexuality to get as much of their money as possible, therefore transferring the power in our direction?

Id say its difficult to maintain 'long-term'.....its very similar dancers getting paid to dance but every once in a while a customer will pay/come back over and over in hopes she will leave the club with him/be his gf/have sex/etc
The SD will pay for the woman's attention/armcandy/etc in hopes that this money will convince her to have sex

Not necessarily! There are men who pay women to temporarily take their power and their money (however this might not be the typical sd but my point is there are exceptions from the norm)

Reasons why Americans have overtly bad attitudes about Sugar relationships (it's actually pretty complex)-

    * seeing it happen in front of you ruins the American cultural fantasy of "nice guy gets pretty girl."

    * it pisses young guys off because it reinforces the idea that a woman's charms can be bought- young men are pressured to be "good" when youthful masculine behavior isn't always a force for good

    * everyone automatically assumes the younger partner is a gold digger, and the relatives of an older guy with a younger spouse get anxious about re-written wills and gifted away valuables. People totally rip eachother off in families when estates are settled, they will gleefully cut a stranger off with no concern if they've been counting on a payout from dad's estate.

Very insightful post. Hopefully, American culture changes eventually.

Some states now recognize a deed effective on the death of the grantor. Real estate can be passed outside an estate.

Relevant to this- a friend of mine lost some land that was willed to her on a West Coast state- there are ways to game the system in that regard (still.)

A good reason to give someone property and retain a life estate.

I watched final argument in a will contest, and was amazed the jury upheld a will that was obviously the result of undue influence.
