    Default Need help with wigs

Hi there. I've been dancing for almost two years now, but my hair has been through alot for those years. It was already barely growing and now it seems to have stopped completely. It doesn't help that when I went to the salon in January and finally got a haircut(to stop breakage) when I asked for one fourth of an inch, the woman cut off four (that's going to salons with people that don't speak English for you ). Now my hair is really short and it's making me miserable. I want to try to do daily routines on it with different hair products and see a trichologist. The problem is, I dance every week for my income and can't stop. My natural hair is very wavy, but way too short to be worn out and definitely won't be liked at the club. I don't fancy wigs, but it seems that I need to get one. How do i go about looking for one. I need something as natural looking as possible (which i feel is hard because majority of the time you can tell when a woman is wearing a wig), but the lights will be low anyways. I'll probably only wear it at work only. Maybe like a short shoulder length beach curl style? The second problem is that I do really crazy tricks on the pole (gave myself whiplash 2 weeks ago ) and I'm all over the place. I go upside down alot. How does the wig not fall off? How do you secure it without all of your hair underneath showing?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Choose one that's as close to your root/hairline colour as possible. Might be easier to blend if the wig does slip slightly and reveal your real hair.

I danced for a few nights with a wig once and was also worried about it not staying put because I did a lot of pole work. My natural hair was also past my middle back, so although it's fairly fine, there was still a lot of it to shove up underneath. I did tight double French braids, keeping them tight to my scalp as possible and as far back as I could reach, then pinned them to each other and to the back of my head, up the middle, and held with hairspray especially around the edges where flyaways might be able to poke out. My hair was honey blonde at the time but the wig was black so I was especially paranoid about this. In order to disguise any bunching or lumps, I styled the wig (straight, slight curl, side part, just below shoulder length) in a low ponytail. I was a bit self conscious the entire time, both nights, but my wig held, even with full inverts on a super spinny pole.

Make sure your wig has the little straps and hooks on the inside for adjustment, and wear it as tight as is comfortable. You can also get additional small clips to sew around the inside edges for additional grip around the hairlines. Finally, bobby-pin the bejesus out of that sucker! Pin through the wig, underneath the hair, with pins of a similar colour, and don't be stingy. Add a sparkly barrette or two as eye-grabbers if you're worried about them being too visible, and/or style the wig in such a way that some of the pins look like they are just holding a natural hairstyle. The braids are important here, not just for concealing, but for giving the pins something to grip once you place the wig. Even if your hair is short, the tighter you can braid it, the better an anchor those pins will have to hold onto. Depending on the length of your natural hair, four to six smaller French braids might be more doable.

Thank you so much! Do you suggest buying in person or at a store. In all honesty, I never like the ones at beauty supply stores.
My hair is black and I dye it every few months so it shouldn't be an issue.
Guess I'll have to learn to French braid lol

I would try going to a store first so you can get an idea of how they fit and what might look good on you. Mine was store bought. Once you have an idea of what you like it will probably be easier to find the right one(s) online.

Yes, but be careful, those colors online can be off, & *you usually can't return it.
There's a great wig place by me, run by trans ladies.
They sell online but limited stock.

Try the wig line BrownSugar. They are great starter wigs.

I think, for a 1st time purchase, you should go in person..

I had really great experience at a trans. owned wig store.

You might want to try using Olaplex, if you dont already, and/or Philip Kingsley hair products.

    Good luck
