Default Why Are Black Strippers Being Erased From Stripper Feminism?

    Hi Everyone,

I recently wrote a post on blog in response to an article recently published in the New York Times “Strippers Are Doing It For Themselves”. When reading this article I was shocked by the fact that there was very little representation of the issues that Black strippers face because those issues are very different than those of White strippers. I decided to create this blog post to shed light on how Black strippers have been exploited for a long time & it has been swept under the rug, but also how Black strippers are being left out of the modern day stripper feminism & unionization movement. Sadly, the issues of Black strippers are only given light when we get the courage and speak on the issues ourselves such as the discrimination that we face in White clubs & colorism that we face in Black clubs. I would love if you could give my post a read & let me know your thoughts on the issues i bought to the table. I do want to add that I am in no way trying to detract from or say that any other strippers issues are not important because we are all sisters. I am simply trying to shed light on the issues that have been hidden in the closet for so long. Thank you!

Totally agree! Men like diversity and I wish these owners would get with the times. It’s a fantasy world for a reason so you can see all sorts of colors and shapes.

I love the article! This was my fav part...

So the next time you joke about dropping out of college or quitting your day job to become a stripper, think twice. Because there are many strippers that have Masters, PhD’s, run successful businesses, and are overall boss ass bitches.

I work with quite a few women who're in school/graduate school. Hell, there are even some who have corporate day jobs...
