Default how bad is the instagram culture at your club?

where I work, if you are trying to be low key as a stripper you literally need to retire.. management doesn't back you up, if you want customers to delete videos or pictures of you BUTT NAKED. They even have camera teams coming to the clubs to shoot promo videos. AND it's expected to promote the club on your personal IG.

is that the norm where you live?

Thank goodness no. And yet another reason I have no interest in Miami.

I give my respect to girls who can do well in that city.

thanks, it is getting rough. any club that gets a decent amount of customers has turned into a semi nightclub with artists performing, cameras everywhere and your pussy (cause we need to get naked on stage or we get fined) on everyone's IG story.

Oh hell nooooo. I couldn't work in a club like that. Don't these clubs even care about the good married spenders being outed online? Shit, I would.

I wish my club was a little more on the ball with their no camera rule. I'll come back and add more info.
That sounds really terrible if they are not backing you up at all.

In mine they are not supposed to be allowed but security isn't particularly good about watching. I have had to be my own defense before ( grabbing phones and getting into them to delete myself which does put me at risk and it a really delicate situation ). It also completely ruins my stage set and the vibe.

I have a strong opinion about phones in clubs ..... they shouldn't be there. If they need to text ..... step outside. Text / Call ...... whatever OUTSIDE ..... just like a smoke break in a non-smoking place.

Luckily the club lighting helps somewhat. Cell phone cameras are good but luckily still often produce very blurry pictures due to the dark / movement in clubs.

If customers are taking photos of you, you need to be paid, period. If they are snapping photos without paying, it's like stealing. That's without taking the fact that you're naked into consideration and there being reasonable expectation of privacy in places that are deemed private, including strip clubs. Strip clubs are not public places. Everyone pays a fee to enter, no?

Also, if customers (or the club) takes photos of you, you need a release. It's called a model release form/image release. This is standard for models, actors, any performance venue. I don't understand why we can't be granted the same rights.

As someone mentioned above, photos in clubs also raises the issue of customers getting outed, not just the dancers.

I got so spoiled in Vegas and CA with the very strict no-phone policy in the clubs but unfortunately see how commonplace it is everywhere else. If a stupid customer needs to use his phone, why not go outside?

Of course, I understand it's part of the culture in some clubs to snap photos and show them off. Without sounding like an asshole, let me just say that those are a certain club that we like to refer to as 'urban.'

Oh my! A lot of the urban clubs down here are pretty active on IG or promote their girls. The clubs I have worked at might have a fb or Instagram, but aren't really active. They usually don't show the girls either.

I've used this excuse to sell vip. "I don't want to do floor dances bc I don't want to be on someone's phone camera".... sometimes it works. It also engraves it in their head to respect the girls.

Anyway, I think it's ridiculous that some clubs side with these clients... those are the ones that don't spend and are cheap free looky loos.

    Oh no.

If you agree to be naked on film you best be getting paid residuals on EVERY film EVERY time it’s viewed.

They think young 20 somethings are financially ignorant (and just so freaky) that they love being filmed for free for male benefit.

Adult entertainers do not get residuals. That's not to say that I don't agree but that's just the reality.

Sexism and classism at it's finest. No one cares if a stripper doesn't want her image exploited for some drunk, entitled idiots personal benefit.

Any time a club allows such customer conduct, strippers should start suing, customers and strip clubs both.

No it's not like that at my home club. They don't encourage any of it. The club itself has a good social media presence and some girls interact with it by choice but it's not expected of us to promote or give out our social media.

We were definitely having a problem with customers taking pictures & not even trying to be subtle though. Luckily the bouncers and waitresses do NOT play around with making them delete stuff. They also put signs up all over the tip rail saying "no phones out" but people are legit idiots and still pull their phones out.

They actually had a new web designer re-do their website and he was trying to convince the club to let him come take photos of the actual girls that worked there. He couldn't understand why the owner wouldn't let him, like this moron didn't understand why the dancers wouldn't want their photos on the club's website...

They don’t allow customer photography, I have no obligation to partake in any sponsored photoshoots, and I’m not expected to promote the club on any social media or even disclose any social media I have to them.

I was on stage topless and a customer took a picture of me. I jumped off stage started arguing with him, the bouncers backed him up and let him stay. another club I work at demands us to promote them on IG.

Never do any online promotions (especially for adult businesses) without some sort of partnership fee, sponsor fee, affiliate fee, hell something....

you should get compensated for helping them promote online and bring business to the club.

You don't understand, these guys and gals don't want to do anything in private. Married or not they LIVE to get on the 'Gram and show out -- especially show the girls they are blessing (or pretending to). In traditional clubs they would go to the VIP and all of the crazy would be behind the wall or the curtain. But this generation has a culture where they want to walk in the dressing room and bathroom with a camera! They want to be seen getting head, or mauling a dancer's boobs/vag and then scream WorldStarrrrrr! Ratchet, job endangering shit like that is what they do.

It isn't mandatory but our club likes to post our pictures and videos on Instagram and is pretty relaxed about phones/cameras. We do have a choice and have to give our permission and get to decide if we want to take pictures or not. Sometimes the DJ is sloppy and when he's doing the pics and videos of the stage he shows the customers who may or may not wanna be filmed and sometimes girls who didn't wanna be filmed end up in the video anyways. It's okay with me though because I'm always willing to be on camera and I promote on my own Instagram page.

yup! I personally am not comfortable being public as a stripper so I got a lawyer hehehe.. cause it's not part of my contract and I'm tired of being mistreated by management.

Right. There is a privacy clause in many contracts. This means the club is liable for protecting your privacy.

LOL on this note, the club I've been working at lately just put up a sign today - "We need you girls to take photos to put on our website, we'll let you use our professional photos in your portfolio and give you 2 free house fees!"

Gee, I'd love to out myself on the internet for a $50 value... Give me a break

Jeez. This thread is why I prefer working in dives or in high-end gentlemen's clubs (which are a dying breed). I can't stand this "do it for the gram" culture, or the way clubs are trying to turn themselves into a nightclub, quasi-strip club nightmare. I really hate to see the direction the strip club industry is moving in. It's not special, exotic, or elusive anymore. Great for the club's pockets! Not so much for ours, or our sanity and dignity -- neither of which are apparently qualities strippers should have!

Idk. I wouldn’t be interested in working in a club where one has to do this to make money. But I’m gonna play devil’s advocate. I think there is something to be said about owning your own brand. For example, think of the traditional gentlemen’s clubs, especially in NYC and Vegas. The VIP hosts rule and extort with an iron fist. Instagram allows a girl to be her own connector. Which also helps with one being successful on one’s own terms instead of another person (reducing them being able to give you too much bullshit)

That and I think the getting-rained-on culture is a counter to bringing down how much mileage a dancer has to give out. I don’t think the gentleman’s clubs have been doing a stellar job on that.
