This topic has been discussed many times here. It depends on different accounts of opinions. In my opinion, the golden age of stripping is behind us due to two factors: economics and social changes among the current "ripe-age" strip club consumers - the growing pie piece is the millennials.

Millennials are having a hard time making end's meet due to the current economic philosophy in U.S. politics that's been a staple for 40 years - neoliberalism. Doing so, cost-of-living keeps rising, wages been stagnating since the 1980's, a lot of good-paying jobs been outsourced, student debt loan crisis, more debt, inflation, and unresponsiveness of politicians to the problems due to corruption.

As so, society has changed too. Thanks to technological advancement of the Internet. People have more options for entertainment for a low price or free. This morphs the consumers' mind, especially males'. As we know, men are cheap by nature when it comes to women and many women have been regulated to the changes by settling "less" and giving it up easily.

Now, this brings to the current problem, the older consumers, the ones whom spend at strip clubs before, are now married, retiring, or retired. Like any other business, you need to bring in the new generation of consumers to replace them. And this is crucial as millennials cannot and doesn't want to support the strip club industry and others too.

When I got in over 10 years ago, there wasn't much "convincing" to do as guys were eagered to spend on lap dances.
