Default Guys trying to “Venmo” me in the strip club🙄

So I understand taking digital payment when doing webcam shows....but I had a guy who wanted to Venmo me for a stupid $20 dance, and it’s not the first time I’ve been asked this. Like I believe in only taking cash, are girls taking this now as a form of payment?

One of the clubs I recently visited strongly prohibits accepting Venmo as a form of payment for dances. Don't know why but they do.

Duh Re: Guys trying to “Venmo” me in the strip club🙄

    ^exactly!

He probably want to Venmo so his dumb ass can reverse transaction later claiming he was too drunk to consent or some other nonsense.

You already know some dancers probably are letting dudes Venmo n cashapp

    I wouldn’t trust it

Mf reverse the charges a week later then they look n feel real dumb

Clubs make money when guys use their atms/club dollars etc. That’s one reason why (they lose money when dancers process payments)

Another reason is to protect the dancers. If there is a payment dispute, most likely Venmo will side with customer (especially if he linked/used credit card) and either hold funds while they investigate or reverse the payment. The reason is 1. These vanilla payment processors do not like adultwork 2. The dancer has no storefront/website, no policies, nothing that spells out what the client should expect (ex. No refunds after service) BEFORE paying. Like no dancer is going to pull out her policies n procedures for the dude to review before buying with Venmo

It sounds like that guy is a douche who was trying to get free dances. Venmo or any other electronic payment can easily be reversed. Cash is king so if he's trying to get you to accept electronic payment he's more than likely trying to screw you over out of your deserved money. I've not heard of any strippers accepting Venmo as payment but men in the clubs will try to get away with whatever they can. If you are new or young and they think you might be naive enough to fall for it, they'll try.

Cash app is definitely legit though. Never had a problem with it.

It takes a lot of effort to get shit reversed through cash app. I had to do it one time for a chipotle order lol. Like they want you to contact the company first and provide proof you did and what not before they'll reverse it. I'm sure itd be even harder if it was sent to a person.

It's only difficut to get a refund if they think it's nonadult. The problems I've heard about haven't been from a chargeback, it's been from Cash app itself. They have banned cam hosts and refunded the money after the fact once they find out it's used for adult. Definitely against their terms of service.

I actually have had only positive experiences offering an electronic payment method with customers who are low on cash and have exceeded what they can withdraw from the ATM (usually the case since all accounts have withdrawal limits). I have used PayPal in the past to save these sales and have just paid my tip out for the time rendered with cash from my shift. The money is deposited immediately into my checking account and boom, I'm paid.

I've only used venmo a couple of times as an extra tip and had no problem with it. I probably just got lucky though. I wouldn't accept venmo as the main form of payment.

Vemno is owned by paypal which as we know hates swers and takes our money when our accounts get shut down. But it's very hard to reverse a transaction on venmo. They can however do the same thing their parent company PayPal does and take the money and shut down the account. I have not heard this being a huge problem like with paypal and cash app. It does say on cash apps website that "Cash App to Cash App payments are instant and usually can't be canceled. To be sure, check your activity feed to see if the payment receipt is displaying a cancel option. The recipient can also refund your payment". I have used venmo for work.

A bouncer at my club seriously pulled me aside and advised me to take venmo after my customers withdrawal limit was reached. I've been at my club longer than he has (and had previously learned a lesson involving this) thankfully. But, If I were a newer dancer I might have listened to him. It makes me really really pissed off. Venmo, Paypal, and Square are DEF NOT good to use in the club (I'm sure cashapp isnt either but idk about this particular one for sure.)

    Story Time:
Had a customer ask for a 3/100 a year or two ago. He couldn't withdrawal cash at the atm. He asked if I could charge him via his card somehow... despite my better judgement, I figured... "well nothing else is going on, and if it works cool and if not, well I wouldn't have made the money anyway since no one else is here." I had square installed on my phone for a non-adult side business I have, so I took his payment through there. It went through right away. After the dance was done, he went for another 3/100... and another... and another... and then a VIP (which also btw, to this day, was the most uncomfortable VIP experience I've had with a customer). I left thinking I made $700 from this asshat. Little did I know, I'd receive an email the next day saying my account was frozen because the charges had been disputed. Also found out adult work of any kind violated their terms of use (it apparently violates most money apps terms of use, as shitty as that is). I could either have the money lost to my frozen account or I could issue a refund and hope that they would stop the investigation (even though I didn't break any kind of law). I issued the refund, never saw any of that money I had worked for, and I can no longer use square for any of my businesses. Luckily I had never set up a paypal business account, so I was able to use them as an alternative for my non-adult work. But if I ever fucked up with paypal, I'd be screwed. Even non-adult businesses have been screwed over by disputed charges through money apps (esp square), but at least they can try to defend the purchase of something in a vanilla sale (if they have serious documentation and book keeping skills, they ask for some ridiculous details about the sale). Cash is king esp in our industry. Some serious lessons learned that night.

I know this is a year old thread, but I’ve been on dancing hiatus since I’ve moved, and I’m itching to go back to the club (If I find one - Detroit isn’t the best market, from what I’m reading lol). So, I’m catching up on what’s going on in the industry lol but this is good to know! Cash is king, but my dumbass may fall for one of these cash app payments if it comes up lol I was under the impression that you couldn’t reverse Venmo/zelle/whatever else is out there!

No, you can reverse them all. I’ve been paid through Venmo and Zelle for side jobs I’ve done (vanilla stuff, nothing adult). I always demand a physical copy of supporting documentation in those instances, just in case they try reversing p/disputing charges. I’d never even consider accepting payment in the club through those means, especially Zelle. Too much personal info attached to that one.

I do have Venmo, and I know they offer a MasterCard debit card through it (namely because I have one). And I know you can use it to withdraw cash from an ATM.

Cash up front is the only form of safe payment. Otherwise you're playing with fire.

    1. okay first, you can't dispute zelle, but those transactions will always have your legal name on it. I don't use zelle for work.

    2. I feel like this discussion is kind of like the debate between people who are hyper vigilant about covid and insist that everyone else be on total lockdowns until 100% vaccination, won't leave the house for any reason, wash their groceries – and anti-maskers going to motorcycle rallies and insisting the whole thing is a hoax. My behavior is somewhere in the middle. Of course it's not as fraught as all that, and the stakes are much lower, but hopefully y'all get I'm saying.

When I worked in formal strip club settings, I never took cashapp or venmo because it was made clear (through signage and violators being used as examples) that contracts were terminated for taking epayments. I also didn't really have to. There was always a nearby atm, and if anything, funny money.

Since business has become more... informal, I have started taking epayments just because it's easier and I'm typically dealing with people I trust or at least have met a few times before. There's a cash shortage right now, and people just aren't taking out huge sums like that unless they're going to do some sketchy shit. Venmo and cashapp have been helpful when going to meet someone to do a private show because I know I'm getting at least part of the $ upfront and not leaving the house to go haggle with someone at a random house party and not get paid at all. In most of these cases, it would be harder to guide the customer to an atm than it would be worth, and I feel confident that they won't initiate disputes. I rarely deal with people who are total strangers and seem visibly fucked up, but if that were the case, my calculus would be different.

That said, this thread def made me cash out my venmo balance out of paranoia lol. I'm interested in hearing from those of y'all who've had your account frozen – how did that go down? I usually keep all my transactions private - even ones that have nothing to do with work, unless there's some good reason why they should be public. I also use my venmo for legit transactions all the time (admittedly some not-so-legit ones as well... mm edibles lol). I recently changed my avatar to something sexy but just changed it back to a cute headshot. Hoping I can stay under the radar, avoid disputes, and continue as I've been doing.
