    Probably not.

Just seems like the energy would carry over

Idk. I know of some people who sage homes beforehand to remove the previous owners energy

Realistically anyplace you set foot on probably had something bad happen there at some time in the past, unless you are in Antarctica or somewhere uninhabited. Human history is violent no matter where you are.

I would go by the feel of the place, not what anyone else thinks or says, how it make me feel and the atmosphere. If everything else was right, the price was right I'd definitely go forward.

Would you buy/live in such a place, especially live there?
    Why or why not?

Nope. I never understood how people could knowingly inhabit a home with that type of history. I have enough of my own demons to deal with.

Oh totally, I'd live in a property unless it had toxic waste on the property or was a biohazard. Generally on the West Coast of the US those sorts of issues do not affect value of a home (states vary in legally obligating the seller to disclose that info though.)

I do believe some people can sense things in places. & Some houses "leak misery." I'd bet a lot of real estate agents have stories on this subject but don't dwell on it because it's bad for business.

That's possible bad energy and a potential spirit lingering behind. I've lived in a home before that was odd. The basement gave me the creeps but basements usually give me the creeps so I tried to brush it off. Weird things started happening but only in the basement. Electronics were turning off and on on their own and I along with everyone else who lived in the house all saw a ghost of an old man. Even my grandma saw him during a birthday party, when the other 2 bathrooms were occupied so she went downstairs to use the basement bathroom. When she came back upstairs she asked me what the new old man roommate in the basement's name was. I told her we don't have any male roommates(which was the truth, only females). For some reason he never appeared if there was a male around. It turned out that a previous owner who had lived there in the 70's had hung himself and died in the basement.

I say I'm not superstitious but I live alone and have an active imagination so no. I've lived anyway so long in apartments that when I go to my house it takes me a few days to get used to all the extra noises.

    I've had similar experiences.

Semi-threadjack but slightly relevant- I lived in a historic building & had a really bizarre experience there that I chalked up to stress. Now I'm tempted to think it might have been a haunted building (sadly no one can find out now, the building was torn down since it was on valuable real estate.)

Back on topic though, property owners usually alter properties or even change the address numbering to hide the history of a place that had a notorious crime happen there. However a lot of soldiers and people who have lived in developing countries say that it's hard to erase the traces of violence in some places. I don't want to link to their stories but you probably get the idea.

I’d have no problem isn’t it....especially if I get a great deal on the real estate due to it.....

My inclination would be to buy it if I could get a reasonable price on it. There may be some prejudice against it when you try to rent or sell it.

We used to joke that the previous owner of our house caused the toilets to run. (Yes, whirleeeeee, I have indoor plumbing)

    Are you considering buying?

Well, it depends, but I’m a realist and not superstitious in any way, so if the deal was good, I could definitely buy the house.

We did look at a place that had a cemetery on it, which seemed cool, but we would have had to build a house, and you have to keep access to the cemetery open.

A cat got shut in the car and died. The car smelled bad for years.

Another cat was constantly making a pest of itself getting in a different car, and wound up spending a weekend in that car. The cat survived, and then two cars smelled bad. After that the cat would not get near the car.

And I happened to think, a few years ago, i noticed a lot of buzzards hanging around the place and perching on the barn. It turned out a tenant died in a house about 300 yards away and the landlord did not notice him until he was about a week late with the rent. I understand the house was pretty fragrant, and remains vacant.

    This is an interesting topic.

I would. I would hire a spiritual person to do a ritual if I felt a presence. I am very sensitive to spirit and have lived in a few places with them. A ex of mine inherited a beautiful house that was seriously haunted. I hired someone to get rid of the spirit. The energy was completely different after. It was scary before.

As long as the house itself didn't cause the death, I'd be fine with it. I've lived in places before where people have died before with no issues.

I would assume as previous posters said if a house is old enough there is almost guaranteed to have been a death there

I just want to say that I noticed the title say “violent” death vs natural causes death.

Does that make a difference to you or no? Just curious

    I definitely would.

I want to buy a condo in the French Quarter, which is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the country. It has a bloody history that includes lynchings, dismemberings, atrocities committed against enslaved people, mass deaths due to arson, not to mention its very high murder rate on any average year. If I buy a condo in a 300-year-old building, I can almost be sure some seriously fucked-up shit went down there at some point.

An untimely end might enhance the chance of the location being occupied by the spirit of the decedent, if such a thing happens.

My friend bought a condo where the wife had just brutally stabbed her husband to death in.
He said that the realtor never told him.
I thought it eerie, when I went to visit him. The blood stained rug where the murder was committed was still there.
My friend has a job (career), where he communicates with the dead.
    So, it doesn't bother him.
    The rug is still there.
Oh, well. To each their own.
    I couldn't live there.
I moved into a house that I just KNEW evil things had taken place.
    It was severely haunted.
I broke my lease and moved.
So, the answer for me is no.
I'm an empath, so I can't be around that energy.
    Even if it's cleared.

On topic, these days with the level of cleanup/ rehab services available for properties......it would be very easy to never mention a death or violent event in a property. I don't want to get too specific online but the topic came up recently regarding a local house.

Caveat emptor...…..In old age I can tell you the value of a in-demand property usually makes people forget all about hauntings and bad vibes.
