    Default Sculptra question: asymmetric results??

Hello all! So I had some Sculptra done in my face, two sessions. The second session focused on my right cheek, which was not developing as much as my left after the first session. Now it's almost 12 weeks since that last session and my right cheek STILL looks sunken compared to the left.

I spoke with my doc, who says "give it more time" but I mean come on, how long is it supposed to take? I thought it was 6 weeks to start seeing results. At what point do you know what the final result will be?The left side is looking better and better over time, so I hope that the right will catch up, but I am panicking a bit.

The first session, we did two vials, relatively evenly placed in cheek area for hollow/sunken cheeks. The second session we did just one vial, and most of it went to that right cheek that wasn't responding to the first round, to try to correct the asymmetry. I have noticed SLIGHT change after 12 weeks, but not symmetric!! Left cheek looks much fuller than right, unless I smile.

Anyone ever hear of Sculptra just not working in ONE side of someone's face? Give it more time?

First ever plastics experience and oh my GAWD I am terrified I will be asymmetrical unless I get it fixed somehow

Also I posted this on reddit. No one had any ideas except to ask if I sleep on that side of my face. That's not it, I actually usually sleep on the "good" side...

I'm sorry that you're having delayed results. I actually thought this was about having Sculptra in your BUTT cheeks. Luckily, you finally mentioned your smile and face. Lol.

I plan to have Sculptra to fix my hip dips. I'll post if I find out anything that'd cause the injections to not take. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Sculptra isn't cheap!!!

Our faces are rarely 100% symmetrical. You probably do sleep on one side more than on the other. Did your doctor suggest using any other filler to lift up the cheeks and add more filler to the side that is more sunken? Voluma maybe?

I sleep on the good side of my face, though. Not on the side that still looks hollow.

I understand we all have some asymmetry but I have had two sessions already, the second one specifically to address the asymmetry. So... I don't know. Yeah maybe I need something other than sculptra.

It just doesn't make sense to me that it would work so well on one side of my face but not the other. Never heard of that before.

I have always had assymetrical results, anytime I used any filler or even Botox.

It sucked when it happened on my lips (no pun intended) and what ended up was right corner of my mouth looked lifted and cushioned, while left actually drooped downward. The doc never could give me a reason for this, except the usual robotic "everyone experiences different results" - so I am forced to draw my own conclusions. I had Juvederm btw. I believe one of three happened: (1) the doc injected a blood vessel or nerve, which deactivated my natural collagen or killed it. and caused the area to droop (and I have read of this kind of thing happening); (2) she injected too much (I did ask for more than normal that time), which caused the natural collagen to explode(? - idk. if (1) happened, then it seems like this could happen, too) or (3) there are areas of your face which simply fail to react to the filler (never heard of that, but doesn't mean it don't or couldn't happen).

I eventually stopped having botox or fillers altogether b/c the results just made me wish I hadn't done anything, and got tired of experiencing the kind of obsession and anxiety that you are going through rn. I know I could've maybe gone to other docs and had better, but I had tried like 4, all of whom had great reviews. And I stuck with a couple of them through multiple sessions over time. These days, if I had any surgery/fillers done again - and I prob will in next couple years - I am thinking of going to Bankgkok, Thailand. Because I hear from reliable sources that their docs are further experienced and advanced in these techniques, and also that they cost pennies compared with what we pay in US.

I hope it clears up for you.

Thank you so much! I do remember in the first session, on that right side it felt like she went maybe too deep and injected into muscle or something, or maybe too close to a nerve. I have been having some TMJ tension on that side too, ever since. Ugh I am never doing anything like this again. Gonna just let myself age naturally from here on out. Not worth the obsession afterwards.

I thought there was a more recent thread on fillers/botox/cosmetic surg., but this is the latest one I can find, so here goes.

Just wondering has anyone tried Kybella? It's supposed to dissolve fat in certain areas of the face? I have put on weight the last year, purposefully, since I've been growing my butt & thigh. And I have just felt like I wanted to be thicker the last year or so, after always keeping pretty thin. So what has happened is I also grew a little pooch underneath my chin. Gross right. Not like a huge roll or a complete double chin or whatever, but a definitely noticeable piece of fat, esp. noticeable when I look downward.

Apparently it takes like 3 treatments or something? Just would love to hear if anyone gets it done.

Has anyone noticed shade coming from the staff or doctors when you go to get fillers?
I am in the midwest/red state where things are obviously more conservative, but still. It's appalling that the people you are paying to do something they've advertised they want your business, now they are shading you. (Basically out of envy. It's always been my contention that, whether male or female, everyone is jealous of pretty people who have sex appeal, as well as money, and a little self-esteem.). Still. Ideally? you would not receive this attitude at the PLASTIC SURGERY CENTER. Yet. Here we are.

It's gotten to the point that I don't even want to go in there. Idk if perhaps they consider me a stripper/sexworker? since that's prob a large portion of their business, so they assume I am, as well? There's really nothing about me - aside from being pretty, self-esteem, and the ability to afford treatments - that would lead them to believe I'm a stripper, though. I'm conservative.

I am currently considering skipping the doctor, and just going to a med spa, since I feel there are less haughty females there. The doctors & staff where I go are the rich housewife type, so they shade any woman who they feel threatens to catch their rich husband's eye. But girls at the spa seem slightly less hectic.

Yet, from what I'm hearing, it's unsafe to go to a medspa. Which doesn't make sense to me though? It's just injections, right? They receive training and certification, right? Why go to an actual doctor if you don't need to? If it's surgery you're after - then yeah. But seems like just injections could be handled at a med spa.

    Has anyone tried a medspa?
